Kerry closed the front door to her home and dropped her bag in the hallway before slumping against the back of it.

Goddamn.

Her people battery was definitely flat. She needed to recharge and the only way to do that was-

'Kill someone?'

"No!"

The disappointed sigh in her head made her clench her jaw.

She needed to fine tune her tonic. Hearing Kaz's voice wasn't supposed to be a thing. This morning seeing her in the mirror was a scare, but still hear Miss Hyde... it wasn't good. For her, for her health, for the public.

This of course would mean taking her already dangerous recipe and basically poisoning herself to death, which of course was impossible because of that fickle thing called immorality, until she got that correct measurements right so she wouldn't see and hear Kaz every morning, afternoon and night.

Sweet Kerry, I think you should keep me close... seeing as the town is crawling with bloodsuckers, furry critters, two copycats and one little annoying magic thief.

The lighter of two redheads turned to face the largest mirror in her loungeroom, dumping her school bag on the couch.

The first Wiccan she'd met, that she had actually asked for help, made this mirror for her. The back of it was covered in runes so Kerry would always be able to see Kaz, even when she was 'taken her medicine.'

"What do you mean? I know about Caroline and Mrs Hanneman. A vampire and a werewolf."

"Why yes. But you missed the two girls with Miss Bright and Bubbly before they quickly skedaddled."

Kerry frowned again, at this rate she was going to get wrinkles, even with her eternal youth. There was more? Ugh. She disliked witches more than anything. Self righteous bitches thinking they knew everything. At least that first one was nice... until she found out what her problem was.

Then Kaz had to step in, somehow she was impervious to magic, and Miss Hyde... well... goodbye witch.

"So who else is here?"

"I don't know their names," the Hyde rolled her eyes as she sat on the couch in the mirrored loungeroom, "I only noticed them standing beside and talking with the baby vampire."

The Jekyll groaned softly, dropping her face into her hands. Feeling conflicted, Kerry needed to toss up the hard choices she had.

Kaz grinned from her mirror, her white teeth looking sharp, "We can't go anywhere."

And she knew that! Really, she wasn't THAT much in danger from the supernatural, because Kaz was her protection... but humans needed protection from Kaz because she wasn't stable... KERRY wasn't stable.

And Hyde knew that too.

"Play with your little chemistry kit," Kerry shot a glare at the darker redhead, "I promise to behave, I swear, but..."

"But?"

"Keep off from actually dosing yourself with your new products, sweet Kerry. Gotta keep you safe." Kaz blew her kiss and the science prodigy scoffed as she walked away.

Yes, she'd abstain. But rewriting her formula was now her top priority, that and finding out who was what and who was a threat.

"So?"

Caroline had left for the Salvatore Boarding House after school, prepared for the shakedown she was about to receive about the new girl that given Bonnie such bad vibes that she had need to split.

The blonde wanted answers too.

Bonnie hadn't really given her a rundown. The witch had just frozen solid and had freak out. That was in itself, scary, since they were dealing an Original, Katherine and Tyler. Her best friend had been cool and confident. But then here comes Kerry and...

The vampire cheerleader was a little annoyed that it was Damon interrogating her.

It wasn't like SHE had done something wrong. Damn.

"First, back up and get out of my face, Salvatore," Caroline snapped at him. She only just entered the place and he was already demanding shit from her. At least let her sit down. "Is Bonnie still here?"

Damon's shoulders sagged the slightest bit, but his his face tightened, "She hasn't moved at all."

The girl's eyes widened and followed him to the sitting room where the witch had curled up in a ball on one of seats. Her gaze was locked in place, unblinking as she sat, frozen in shock.

"What has she said?" Caroline whispered.

"Something about having two souls?"

A whimper came Bonnie's throat.

"The girl?"

"Honestly? Her name is Kerry Jekyll. I can tell she's insanely smart because she was so bored in class. Totally antisocial, didn't like answering any questions about herself, prefers her own company. A Capricorn. And her favourite colour is lilac. Definitely likes music. But... there is something off. She's not a werewolf and she's not a vampire."

The Salvatore blinked once. Shocked that she'd learned that six hours.

"What do you mean by something off?" Damon pressed.

Caroline huffed, thought hard, struggling to explain it, "I made sure to sit next to her in every class we shared and despite her definitely being human, she could still hear me whispering things. But it was like she was listening to something else too. Kerry would sometimes glaze over and she'd feel... darker..."

"The hell does that mean?"

Stefan walked into the room, "Did you say Jekyll?"

The two turned to the younger Salvatore, him wearing a confused look on his face.

"When I was," he glanced at his brother, "You know... in twenties I used to know someone who knew someone with the last name Jekyll. Her name was Kaz Hyde."
