VIKRAM POV
" What!!!" Vidhi gasped with shock but soon composed herself and gave everyone her best fake smile.
She walked towards where Amogh and I were sitting and took her seat at the one right beside me. In my life I've only despised two women the most and she is one of them. I don't know why but from the very first day of her in my agency, I've never liked her presence but had to compromise because of her tactics and fighting skills.
I was deep in my thoughts when I felt someone's burning touch on my arms. I slowly turned my head in the direction and then held her hand and twisted it with great force. She hissed and Amogh looked at us with raised eyebrows and then smirked when he saw what I did with her wrist.
Yeah, I dislocated her wrist joint
It wasn't something serious though but she will need medical assistance for a few days.
" Vidhi! Kya hua aapko beta?" Mrs. Shergill asked with great concern but before vidhi could say something I cut her off in the middle
( Vikram! What happened dear?)" Kuch bhi toh Mrs. Shergill just some sour muscles or cramps.....right vidhi" I said while looking dead into her eyes. She nodded her head as she saw the expression on my face and knew that if she did something now then she will loose her hand or even her LIFE.
( Nothing Mrs. Shergill)Amogh cleared his throat to get everyone's attention on himself-" hum aap sabko Avi ke annprashan ceremony ke liye aamantrit karna chahte hai. About the timings and date then Vikram will inform you about that, he is the kako sa of our Yuvraj after all......right Vikram"
( I would like to invite you all to my son Avi's annaprashan ceremony)Chocky ba*tard
I decided to go back to Rathore palace with Amogh but that burning gaze was making me tensed every single day. With time this feeling was getting over my head and my urge to protect MY FAMILY was getting on my nerves. Therefore, I will go back to palace as soon as I can.
I was checking on some emails on the terrace when I saw Amogh approaching me with two cups of tea. He settled himself beside me and pulled out a packet of Parle G biscuits.
We did cheers and picked one-one biscuit dipping them in our tea. We took and bite when Amogh decided to bring out his doubts about Shergill family.
" Vikram, why do you address your mother as Mrs. Shergill?"
" Because she is not my real mother" I said with a blank look. My voice turned cold " my real mother died in an accident when I was 7 years old and then my father got married to Mrs. Shergill but I don't remember much about my childhood as I was taken in by someother woman who I used to call Mumma until she sold me to those demons"
" Hmm...do you remember anyone from your mother's side of family?" He asked but I could clearly feel something in his voice.
" Nah.......but I remember that she had a sister who used to stay with us but then suddenly she got married to someone and since then no one knows where she is" I said trying to remember her face or name.......anything
Why can't I remember anything about her or my maternal family
" Should we go and enquire about this with your father or maybe he could tell us about your maternal family.....what do you think?" He said and stood up from his place. I decided that with Amogh by my side I might be able to over come my trauma and dig in a little deeper.
I knocked on my father's study room and walked in when we heard a faint 'come in'. I saw him sitting on his chair going through some files. A smile appeared on his face when he saw us stepping inside his study room.
" Please take your seat Hukum sa and feel free to discuss anything." He said politely with Amogh.
" Actually Mr. Shergill, I wanted to know about Vikram's mother....... his real mother" Amogh voice was clipped and filled with authority. I saw my father's face turning pale as he registered Amogh's words.
" Huh.....wh....why na.....now? I....I me.....mean, why all of a sudden." He said trying hard to control his nervousness.
" Why? Don't you miss her or you never loved her?" Amogh was the one questioning him as I couldn't even think straight at this moment. Why is he behaving as if he knows something....
" N...no...there is nothing like that. I will tell you, wait" he said. He went near his liquor cabinet and poured himself a glass of whisky.
" You both need one?" He asked
" No thanks.....we are just fine" I said with a chuckle
" I will tell you about her.....VAARI AMRIT SINGH SHERGILL, yes we've named your sister on her( he smiled). She is and will always be my only love Vikram but things weren't as simple as they seem. When I married your mother, our families weren't that supportive except for your maasi maa. She was always there for us- when we had feelings but couldn't express it then your maasi maa was the one who helped us, when we got married against our families then she stood by us and when your mother was pregnant with you she was the one who took care of her. I was a budding businessman at that time even though I belonged to a wealthy family." His expression said that he was living his days again
" My family cut ties with me....as I married a girl from a poor family. I used to stay out for business emergencies and that became my biggest mistake, I shouldn't ha......I shouldn't have left them alone." His eyes looked teary but he blinked back his tears and gulped his drink filling himself another one.
" I still remember, that I was returning back after receiving businessman of the year award. I was happy that I was holding our year long hardwork and sacrifices in my hand. I stepped inside our small home but the sight infront of me made my nightmare turn real. She....she was....was lying on the pool of her own blood. Her....her eyes were staring dead in mine with an accusation and whe....when I checked her, her....her pulse we...were missing." By the end a sob left my father's mouth and he didn't even made any efforts to stop himself from crying.
" I looked at every corner of that small house that I've bought for our small family but nothing.....I found nothing. Her Jewellery were kept as it is but my most precious possession was missing" he said and turned around to face me.
" YOU WENT MISSING ALONG WITH YOUR MAASI MAA"
