Note: The chapter talks about abuse, the fear, normalization, minimization, and fawning that happens with abuse
I have a note in my Finally Out ~ Marvel Soulmate Book about abuse (note name NOTE PLEASE READ (Abuse)) if you're confused about what the word Fawn(ing) is, it's in that note.
Chapter 15 Sister
Third person pov
With pops in hand, the two girls push the doors open and step outside of the school building.
The second Carmen and Jade stepped their feet outside the school building; they were blinded by the sunlight.
It was mainly because the sun was shining off the bright white colours around them, causing the brightness of it all to be more amplified than it actually was.
Jade grabs Carmen and pulls the two to the side so they are out of the way of the exit/entrance. “Man, I forgot how sunny Forks can get,” Jade said, covering her eyes with her hands.
Shielding her eyes from the sun too, Carmen pitches in, “I didn't even know it was going to get sunny today. My phone said it was going to be cloudy all day.”
“Same, phone said it was even going to rain, but that's Forks for yea. The random bursts of sunny days we get here.” Jade said.
With that, the two walked down the cement stairs, shielding their eyes with their free hand.
As they reached the bottom of the stairs, Jade stopped once again in her tracks.
Luckily, there was no one at the moment walking behind them because if they were, they would have bumped into the two teens.
Jade knew she couldn't leave this parking lot without asking. Even if she was hesitating to ask, she had to ask.
“I have a question!?” she was blunt and even a bit loud with her question. The first question came out so blunt and loud it had Carmen slightly startled.
Jade was, of course, still hesitant. She didn't know what to say. It has been weighing on her ever since it was brought up.
Carmen nods her head and puts her full attention onto Jade, “yeah, what about?” She asks as she cracks open her pop bottle lid and takes a sip of her drink.
Jade reaches out and slowly and carefully pushes the two to the side so they aren't in the way of anyone again. “Thanks.”
Jade nods her head, “no problem. To answer your question, it's about your sister and… Uhh… leaving you…” That's how she started it.
She didn't like the concept of Bella just leaving her younger sister to defend for herself, especially when Forks right now has all these random deaths and disappearances.
Plus. She wished to have a sibling. She craved for one, but it was too late for that. But she knew if she had one, she would never let them walk home. She would drive them home or anywhere so she knew they were safe. Even if she had to walk with them because she didn't have a car, she would.
So hearing that her sister might leave her to walk home had her worried, but she didn't want to step over any boundaries here. However she had to ask.
Carmen feels her heart start to beat so fast in her chest. “Yeah, what about it….?” She asks. This time, it was Carmen's turn to be hesitant.
She didn't like where this was going.
Anything that involves her sister freaks her out. It causes her to panic and makes her feel embarrassed and bad for herself.
