The Monster kept their end of the bargain.

Minji was alive and well. Three years had passed since she made the contract with Y/n, but she still couldn't figure out what The Monster needed saving from.

If you're dead, then you're dead.

"Avoiding me again?" Minji caught a glimpse of The Monster who once tried to eat her.

"Urgh," Y/n turned around to flash their teethed face at her.

Minji turned her head slightly uncomfortably, but she wasn't as frightened of The Monster's face as before.

"Why do you have more teeth than before?" Minji questioned, trying to imagine Y/n's normal face to not stare at the 192 teeth on their face.

The Monster had been avoiding Minji for a reason.

Aside from the basic protection Y/n was contractually obligated to do... Y/n mostly stayed away from Minji because of the promise she made in the contract...

The Monster didn't need saving.

The Monster didn't want saving.

"I got hungry," Y/n ran their tongue across their main set of teeth.

The Monster smirked when they noticed the shake in Minji's legs as they got closer. They grew in size and smirked...

Scaring Minji was fun.

"GET OFF ME!!" I pushed Y/n away when I had enough of their little prank.

Y/n just chuckled and began to walk away.

"Where have you been?" I asked before The Little Monster could get away from me again.

"Eating," Y/n didn't bother to give the time of day.

I took a deep breath and began to hyperventilate... knowing I didn't want to do what I was about to do...

"Wait!" I yelled and ran in front of Y/n to stop them from leaving.

I kept my eyes shut to prevent any further pranks from The Monster and did my best to get my words out.

"My face is gone. You don't have to breathe like that," Y/n snarked.

I peeked with one eye to see if they were lying and was relieved when they weren't.

I exhaled deeply for a few seconds before finally saying... "You're supposed to protect me. Why do you keep ignoring me?"

"I do protect you. That's why I'm here. There's just nothing in the contract about me having to be by your side 24/7," The Monster sighed.

I rolled my eyes in annoyance.

In the last 3 years, whenever I tried to get close to Y/n or get to know more about them... they would go missing...

Y/n would just disappear.

There was nothing I could do about my promise to save them because I knew nothing about them. I didn't even know what they needed saving from.

At first, I thought they needed company or maybe they were some lost soul who needed to get into heaven. But even if that was the case, I knew nothing about how to help.

All I had ever learned about Y/n in the last 3 years was that they killed themselves in a very brutal way. Their body wasn't found until 4 days later. And, no family ever came to collect their body.
