Narrator

The monster had shared too much and things had become difficult since.

Minji wasn't sure how to talk to Y/n anymore. She was a bit unsure on how to approach a rather sensitive soul.

It was a bit embarrassing for Minji to realize that there was a juxtaposition in The Monster's behavior.

It wasn't that she had misjudged...

It was more that she hadn't learned the full story.

- Kim Minji -

I ran through the halls of the university as fast as I could.

Y/n-ssi was getting away from me again.

It had been a year since I last saw Y/n disappear from my room.

"HEYY!!" I screamed.

Everyone in the vicinity looked at me like I was crazy but I didn't care. I wanted to know what I did wrong.

I wanted to know why Y/n abandoned me.

"Y/N-SSI!" I continued to yell.

The familiar figure suddenly turned into mist and disappeared.

- The Monster -

I only had one job.

Protect her.

I didn't have to interact with Miss Kim. I didn't have to be her friend or keep her company. I just had to keep her safe.

"Thank you. Come again!" I watched as Miss Kim did her part-time work duties.

In the last year, Minji had started to become an adult. She wasn't too reliant on the few things her parents left behind for her.

She worked.

She studied.

She knew the importance of support and friendships.

She valued life more than before.

Miss Kim didn't really need me anymore. She had overcome her hardships. She had worked really hard to get through the hardest trials in her life.

Still, I didn't understand why monsters kept coming after her.

"DELICIOUS"

"DELICIOUS"

"DELICIOUS"

Another crawler slobbered all over the floor.

I jumped off the light post I was on and stretched before walking into the coffee shop Miss Kim worked at.

"DELICIOUS"

The disgusting crawler's tongue was hanging out its mouth.

I walked through every human standing in line and ignored their miserable thoughts in the process.

I had one job.

"DELICIOUS-"

I grabbed the crawler by the back of its neck and pushed it onto the floor, before stomping my foot on its head...
