Darkness. Shadow engulfs the night, erupting the dump in ominous silence. Intimidated, I stand, squinting as I made my way through the many bags of cans and mildew food. A figure sat in the distance, pacing furiously. Cautious, I approach, hands in the air in a surrender-like state.
"Hello? Lily? Is that you?" Finally, I reach them, my eyes widening in surprise when I realised. It was Harrison. He stared, worry mixed in with many other emotions as he grabbed my shoulders, pulling me aside. "Listen, these people, aren't like me, they eat people, it's how we've lived for so long but it's making me and all of them ill, in danger, and I'm getting scared" then I started to realise, Harrison wasn't a cannibal, he was just a scared little kid, like me, trying to survive after escaping his dangerous life, then, he noticed the stars, beaming one by one. "This group isn't what you thought when you found this place yesterday..." Harrison explained, although it was obvious that was the case.

Suddenly, hands grasped my shoulders and I leapt, Harrison grabbed a garbage bag, slinging it towards the person, "Wait!" Me and Lily fell to the ground, Harrison covered his mouth, glancing down at us, sheepish. "Dahm, nice greeting Harrison..." Lily slowly stood to her feet, holding her head and slouching slightly, I followed, shooting a slight glare at Harrison. "Sorry, I thought you were the garbage people" He squeaked, Lily glared, "you'd smash the garbage guys head in?" She rolled her eyes, "well, the boys would eat them I guess..." we both stares in shock at his reply, before  Lily spoke, "Wait, Max? Why are we sitting in the dark with this flesh eating monster?!" Harrison looked offended, "Wow... ouch, what a title, I'm not that much of a cannibal" I shook my head, amused, "You're either a cannibal or you aren't there isn't a scale" He sighed and shot a suspicious glare at Lily, "Wait, what are you guys doing sneaking out at night?" Lily looked at me, panicked, "well... uhm..." she paused, realising she had no reason, "Harrison, the secret is we already knew about your cannibalism, and we were planning to escape tonight" I reveal, his eyes widen, "you... already knew...? How is that possible?" Lily interrupted suddenly, "I saw some of your buddies were eating some guy in the back, you're ill. Harrison nodded, "I am, and I'm ashamed of it, so... you're leaving?" Lily and I nodded in return, "then... please... take me with you." My eyes widened and I glanced at Lily, slightly hoping for confirmation. "Look, I know I'm sick and I know I don't deserve a second chance but... I want to change, I swear it, and I'm willing to give up my people, my leadership, and everything to do it." Lily smiles slightly and I nod

"Well then, come on, it's time to find our sanctuary" I say, these words would later become my obsession...
