Aria's POV:
I was pissed.
Hella pissed.
Matter of fact, I was more pissed than scared at this point. I have been running from crazy assholes who have been trying to kill me or get me to their 'boss' all day and I was sick of it.
And worst of all, Lawrence was on the other end of the phone stalling as Luca listened in, all while, said crazy assholes, are still right behind us trying to run us off the dirt road in the woods.
"What do you mean now is not a good time?" I hissed Lawrence's words back into the phone as gunshots rang out behind us. "There seems to never be a good time! Actually, this is a perfect time for you to explain why we are currently being shot at."
"I don't think it's a good time to be talking about this," Luca mutters and my head snaps to face him.
"Will you be quiet?" I tried to say as politely as possible, but my tone was much drier than intended, earning me a quick glare before the whole car shook violently.
I could hear Lawrence sigh despite the crackling of the phone. "Aria, we need to stop those men's reinforcements coming in after you guys and we can't do that if I'm explaining to you what's going on."
I contained whatever frustrated scream was about to leave me by clutching my dishevelled curls spilling around my shoulders.
Taking a deep breath, I let out a strained sigh before lifting the phone near my lips. "Fine, but you are telling me everything."
"And I will do just that-"
I didn't let him finish before slamming the flip phone shut and tossing it onto Luca's lap. I was tired of hearing promises from people who wouldn't even put in the effort to keep it.
It's been like that for a long time and I hated it with every fibre of my being. They used to sound like a beacon of hope to me, but now they were dead and empty words that were easily thrown around like nothing.
Luca mutters a string of curses behind me as he frequently glances in the rearview mirror. Pulling out a gun from his waistband, he rests it on his lap before opening his window with his left hand and holding the steering wheel with his right.
He then sticks the gun out the window and fired multiple bullets, most likely in hopes to get them off our asses.
But in the process of doing so, the whole car jerks to the left and a shriek escapes from me before he regains control.
"I'm fucking out," He grunts, frustration cloaking his voice with an empty gun sitting in his lap.
"This is not gonna work," I said, stating the obvious before releasing a shaky breath before offering. "Let me try."
Luca looks at me with uncertainty and concern, "Are you sure?"
Rolling my eyes at his lack of faith in me, I rolled down the window and faced behind the car once more before pulling out the handgun.
Inhaling, I aimed at the tinted windshield of the black jeep that had been tailing us from the cabin. Lowering my gun slightly away from the glass, I then aimed before taking a shot.
The bullet pierced through the air and it felt like everything was in slow motion but myself.
I watched with confidence as the bullet zipped past the tree branches we had just driven through and straight through the wheel of the jeep.
Screeching, the car loses control and skids off the rough path, crashing into another which left only two remaining jeeps but further away.
"Holy shit," Luca watches the chaos ensue behind me as I slumped back into my seat.
Strapping back into my seat, I checked my gun to see how many bullets were left and I cringed.
"Hey, Luca. I don't mean to rush you but I have one bullet left and if those guys catch up, we are utterly fuc-," I announced before Luca interrupted my rant.
"Just shut the fuck up," He sighs, clearly irritated as he runs a hand through his hair.
I slowly turned my head to face him, trying to process his choice of words.
"Excuse me?" I almost scoffed with my eyebrows knitted tightly.
"What?" Luca snaps turning to glare back at me.
Not only was I now being chased by murderers, I was alongside the hot Italian boy who apparently has a fucking attitude.
I do have a bigger one but that's not the point.
"Get us the fuck out of here or I swear I will take shit into my own hands," I threatened him but he only rolls his eyes at me.
"Like hell, you will," Luca snorts
Oh, he thinks I'm bluffing.
At my old school, I used to have a big problem when it came to people who tried to challenge me. I was a bit too competitive and it earned me some titles among the teachers.
Unfortunately, I still have that problem and I was already mad as it was which was not a good combination.
I shrugged at him as I unbuckled my seatbelt, my movements strained with frustration. "Fine then."
"What are you doing?" Luca looked over at me confused as he began to protest. "Sit back down!"
I was already over the car's console and climbing into the driver's seat on top of Luca. Pushing his hands off the wheel, I take control of it before pressing my foot on top of Luca's to speed up the gas.
Glancing in the rear-view mirror, I watched as the last two black jeeps slowly started to become smaller and smaller as I took sharp turns.
"Aria, what the hell are you doing?" Luca asks, his hands now gripping my hips.
I didn't want to admit it but it felt good to have his body so close to mine. His warmth felt like a strong magnet, making me want to sink into him but I wasn't that stupid.
"You can climb on over to the passenger's side if you'd like," I said in a sickly sweet voice as I smiled at him through the rearview mirror. "I got this under control like I said I would."
I waited for Luca to wiggle out of the driver's seat, but instead, he stayed rooted right where he was.
Glancing into the rearview mirror with furrowed brows, his eyes met mine and I could see amusement dancing in his eyes.
This mother-
"Turn left at the end over there and we'll reach the real roads," Luca says, pointing in front of me and all I could do was shift uncomfortably.
Luca's hands squeezed my hips, almost like a warning, and I full-on stilled before taking the turn he had instructed me to.
Every movement, every twitch, every breath- just everything. I could sense everything and I knew that he could too.
I nod, not trusting myself with words before doing exactly as he instructed and I almost cried in relief. I had never been so glad to see a road in my life before as I turned right and drove down the street.
Luca continues to point out the directions as he lets his hands wrap around my waist. I could feel him slowly lean forward, closing the gap between us but still keeping a little bit of space between us.
Whenever somebody called me crazy or impulsive, I would always brush it off and forget about it.
But now it had slapped me across the face hard and all I could do was just focus on the road as best as I could.
If anything, Luca was just as crazy as I was for going along with it.
