Imperial Palace – Earth

The Great Hall of the Imperial Palace had been prepared meticulously. Massive banners bearing the symbol of the Aquila hung high, and a vast circular table filled the room’s center. Ornate thrones and seats were arranged around it, each one crafted in the style and tradition of the race it would host. The Emperor himself sat at the head of the table, his golden armor gleaming, an embodiment of strength and unity. His gaze swept over the room, taking in the various representatives who had gathered from across the stars.

This was an unprecedented assembly, the first of its kind in the Imperium. Until now, the Emperor had foreseen every outcome, his mind able to predict the choices of humanity almost instinctively. But with the integration of diverse alien cultures from both Council space and the Terminus Systems, he recognized the need for new perspectives—an advisory board to provide insights from across the Imperium. Today marked a new era, one in which the Emperor would listen and adapt to the needs of all his subjects, both human and alien.

At the Emperor’s right, Urdnot Wrex stood proudly, representing the Krogan with a calm but powerful presence. Next to him sat Ghothan Saf’fehal, the chosen representative of the Batarians who had remained loyal through the tumultuous years since the Second Imperial-Batarian War. Ghothan had personally organized militias to defend Imperial territories against separatists, earning the Emperor’s respect.

Vanaria Agmus, a decorated Turian general known for her exploits during the Rachni Wars, took her seat, her posture formal and dignified. Beside her sat Matriarch Kinlia, chosen by the Asari communities within the Imperium for her wisdom and political acumen. Lastly, Rael’Zorah vas Rayya, a Quarian trusted by the Emperor’s own family, completed the council, his engineer’s gaze studying the room with curiosity and respect.

The Emperor spoke first, his deep voice carrying easily across the hall. “Today, I gather you not merely as subjects of the Imperium but as valued advisors. The galaxy is changing, and to face these challenges, I must understand your worlds, your people, and your perspectives. Speak freely, and let this council guide us in forging a stronger Imperium.”

Wrex was the first to stand, nodding respectfully before addressing the Emperor. “Your Majesty, the Krogan are warriors. We thrive on challenges, but we need purpose beyond war. We’ve had enough of being used and discarded. Let us fight this enemy head-on; give us a place in the galaxy that’s earned, not stolen.”

Vanaria Agmus nodded in agreement, her Turian discipline evident in her words. “The Turians have long valued loyalty and duty, Emperor. Our people are ready to serve, but we must ensure that every soldier understands the scale of the Reaper threat. To underestimate them would be a fatal mistake.”

Matriarch Kinlia rose next, her voice calm but authoritative. “The Asari are well-acquainted with patience and subtlety, my Emperor. We know the Reapers threaten all life, but our strength lies in understanding them. We should invest in gathering intelligence, to know our enemy deeply before we confront them fully.”

Rael’Zorah chimed in, his voice a mix of respect and conviction. “The Quarians have had experience with synthetic threats before, my Emperor. The Geth are only the beginning; the Reapers are an ancient danger that makes them look like children’s toys. The Imperium’s technology must evolve if we hope to keep pace.”

Ghothan Saf’fehal added a final perspective. “The Batarians are ready to serve, Emperor, despite the divisions among our people. Many of my kin remember the days of the Hegemony with nostalgia, but we stand with you. My people need stability and purpose. If we eradicate the Reapers, we can give them both.”

The Emperor listened to each representative, acknowledging their words with a respectful nod. It was clear that they all understood the Reapers posed a threat to every world in the Imperium. As the discussions continued, the representatives debated tactics, resources, and the readiness of their forces. Some proposed a strategic defense, while others advocated for a more aggressive approach. The room was filled with passion and conviction as each race defended its perspective, but by the end of the session, they found common ground.

“The Reapers must be stopped by any means necessary,” Matriarch Kinlia concluded, her voice echoed by nods from the others. Wrex gave a satisfied grunt, Ghothan Saf’fehal a firm nod, and Rael’Zorah a thoughtful hum of agreement.

The Emperor rose from his throne, his presence commanding silence. “Then we are all in agreement.” He turned his gaze to the warrior beside him, Lord Commander Shepard. “Shepard, you have your mission. You are authorized to do whatever it takes to ensure the Reapers never reach the galaxy—not even exterminatus is off-limits, but it must be a last resort.”

Shepard stood and saluted. “I understand, Father. I will get it done.”

He turned and strode from the chamber, his crew close behind, each of them filled with renewed purpose. As they walked, Shepard activated his comms, sending a direct signal to the Astral Knights.

“This is Shepard. All Astral Knights, assemble. We have a mission.”

Imperial Warship Bay – Earth

In the cavernous warship bay, the assembled Astral Knights waited for Shepard. As he approached, he surveyed the legion of warriors who had sworn their lives to the Imperium. His voice rang out over them, his presence inspiring and steady.

“Our mission is clear. The rogue Spectre Saren Arterius is our first target. His actions have brought the Reaper threat to our doorstep. We will strike decisively. I am splitting our forces into three strike groups—Bravo, Charlie, and Delta.”

He looked to his right-hand man, Chapter Master Telemonus Norad. “Norad, you’ll lead Charlie group. Your destination is Noveria, where Citadel intelligence reports Matriarch Benezia’s presence. I want that planet blockaded. Do not engage unless necessary. We need her contained.”

Norad saluted, a glint of determination in his eyes. “It will be done, Commander.”

Shepard then turned to Captain Atrech Daniad. “Captain Daniad, you’ll lead Delta group to Feros. We’ve received intelligence of Geth gathering en masse on the colony. Your mission is to protect the colonists and eliminate all hostile forces.”

Daniad nodded sharply. “We’ll keep them safe, Commander.”

Finally, Shepard addressed Bravo group. “I’ll lead Bravo group to the Sparta System. We’re tracking Matriarch Benezia’s daughter, who may hold information we can use against the Reapers. We’ll bring her in.”

With their orders given, the Astral Knights dispersed, each strike group preparing to carry out their mission. Shepard walked with his team to the drop ship that would take them to their flagship—the legendary Normandy.

As they boarded, Shepard’s crew looked in awe at the powerful craft. Ashley nudged Garrus in the side, smirking. “You ever seen a ship like this?”

Garrus shook his head, admiration clear in his tone. “No, I haven’t. It’s… impressive.”

Ashley chuckled. “Just wait until you see a Titan. This is only a taste of what the Imperium has.”

Garrus raised a brow, curiosity piqued. He turned to Nihilus, who wore a faint Turian smirk. “What’s a Titan?”

Nihilus chuckled, cryptic. “That’s a surprise for later. Trust me, you’ll know it when you see it.”

As the Normandy’s engines roared to life, Shepard stood on the bridge, taking one last look at Earth as they rose above its atmosphere. This mission was bigger than any he had faced before, but his resolve was unshakable. His crew was prepared, his orders clear, and his objective unwavering: hunt down Saren, learn everything they could about the Reapers, and ensure the galaxy’s survival.

The Normandy angled toward the Mass Relay, and Shepard took a deep breath, knowing this was the beginning of a battle that would decide the fate of the stars.
