The days blurred together, each one more suffocating than the last. Yn found herself stuck in the endless cycle of obedience and defiance. Taehyung’s grip on her life was tightening, but she refused to bend to his will. He had given her the black card, as he promised, and even though she could use it to buy whatever she wanted, she hadn’t touched it. No matter what he gave her, nothing could replace the feeling of freedom she had once had—the independence that seemed like a distant memory now.
The mansion felt like a gilded cage, each room a reminder that she was trapped. At first, she had tried to keep her distance from Taehyung, hoping that if she stayed cold and unyielding, he might back off. But instead, he simply grew more determined, more relentless. He’d leave her little gifts, each one more extravagant than the last, as if trying to bribe her into submission. A beautiful necklace one day, a designer dress the next. It was clear he wanted her to feel special, wanted her to realize the privilege of being his.
But Yn wasn’t swayed by material things. The only thing she truly wanted was her freedom.
One evening, after dinner, Taehyung summoned her to his office. His tone was casual, but Yn knew better than to expect anything light-hearted. She had been summoned here countless times, each one to deliver another lesson on the power he held over her.
When she walked into the office, she found Taehyung standing by the window, his back to her as he stared out at the sprawling estate. The setting sun bathed the room in a soft, golden glow, but the atmosphere felt heavy—unnatural.
“Sit,” he said without turning around, his voice steady.
Yn didn’t hesitate. She sat in the chair across from him, keeping her distance, her back straight. She wouldn’t let him think he had any control over her body language.
Taehyung finally turned around, his eyes locking onto hers with the intensity she had come to dread. There was something different in his gaze today, though—something softer, but no less dangerous.
“I’ve noticed you haven’t been using the card,” he said, his tone mild. “Is there something you’re not telling me? You don’t like what I’ve given you?”
Yn met his gaze, refusing to show any weakness. “I don’t want your money, Taehyung. I never did.”
His lips curled into a smile, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “You’re a strange one, Yn. Most people would jump at the chance to live a life of luxury. But you seem to think you’re above it all.”
“I don’t need your luxury to feel valuable,” she replied coolly. “You can’t buy my worth with your wealth.”
Taehyung walked toward her, his steps slow and deliberate. “Maybe not,” he said, leaning over her, his breath warm against her ear. “But you will learn that there are other things I can offer you. Things you’ll come to crave.”
His proximity made her skin prickle with discomfort, but she refused to show any sign of fear. “I don’t need anything from you.”
He straightened up, watching her with a look that was both cold and calculating. “We’ll see about that.”
Just as the tension between them thickened, a knock on the door interrupted them. A maid entered, bowing slightly before speaking. “Master Taehyung, Lady Yn, there is a phone call for you. It’s urgent.”
Taehyung’s gaze flickered toward the maid, then back to Yn. “We’ll finish this conversation later,” he said, his voice laced with a promise. “For now, you’re dismissed.”
Yn stood up, determined not to let him see how shaken she was by the exchange. She walked toward the door, but just as she reached for the handle, Taehyung’s voice stopped her.
“Yn,” he said softly, his tone unexpectedly gentle. “Don’t think for a moment that I’m doing this to hurt you. You’ll understand one day why I’ve brought you here.”
She didn’t turn around. “I’ll never understand,” she replied coldly.
Without waiting for a response, she stepped out of the office, leaving Taehyung’s words lingering in the air behind her.
As she made her way back to her room, Yn couldn’t shake the unease that had settled deep within her. She had thought she knew what Taehyung was capable of, but there was something about him that she hadn’t figured out yet. Something that made him more dangerous than just a mafia king.
And she had no idea just how deep his obsession with her truly ran.
