Yn and Taehyung’s life together had been a whirlwind of new experiences, and for the most part, it had been everything she never imagined possible. She was no longer the discarded daughter, the girl treated like an afterthought in her own family. With Taehyung, she was cherished, and for the first time, she felt seen—truly seen—for who she was.
But despite the life they had built, there was always a shadow lurking at the edges of their happiness. Her family’s betrayal still weighed on her, though she had tried to bury it. She couldn’t forget how they had sold her out to the mafia, how they had thrown her away, as if she were nothing more than an inconvenience.
Then one fateful day, the reckoning arrived.
It all started with a letter. A letter from her aunt—the very same aunt who had sold her to Taehyung—informing her that there would be a gathering at their family estate. Her aunt had arranged a party, one that was meant to be an opportunity for everyone to “reconnect.” But Yn knew better. It was a trap. They wanted to pretend like they had never abandoned her, to act as though everything was fine now that they knew she had found a powerful husband. They wanted to reclaim control over her life.
As the date of the party drew nearer, Yn’s unease grew. Taehyung noticed it too. He could see how the mention of her family still unsettled her. Yet, he was determined to shield her from the pain of facing them again.
“Yn,” Taehyung said one evening, as they sat in their living room, “you don’t have to go. I don’t want them to hurt you again.”
She looked at him, her heart a mixture of conflicting emotions. She didn’t want to see them, didn’t want to be reminded of the years of neglect and mistreatment. But she also knew that she couldn’t keep running from the past forever. Part of her still longed for closure, for the chance to finally put her family in the past.
“I need to face them,” she said quietly. “But I won’t go alone. I want you by my side.”
Taehyung’s expression softened, and he took her hand. “Of course, I’ll be there. Every step of the way.”
And so, the night of the party arrived.
Yn was dressed in a beautiful gown, her hair styled to perfection. She looked every bit the princess that Taehyung had promised her she would be. As they entered her family’s estate, the air was thick with tension. Yn could feel her heart pounding in her chest, but Taehyung’s presence beside her was grounding.
Her family greeted them with fake smiles, their expressions betraying the underlying tension. They knew they had lost Yn, but seeing her with Taehyung—the man who had swept her off her feet and built her a life that she truly deserved—was a bitter pill to swallow.
As they sat down to dinner, the conversation was awkward, forced. Yn could feel her mother’s gaze on her, full of regret and guilt, but it didn’t change the fact that it was too late for apologies. Her family had made their choices, and now they had to live with them.
Suddenly, the door opened, and her aunt walked in, her expression cold. Behind her was someone Yn had never expected to see again—Yena.
Yn’s heart dropped into her stomach. Yena was supposed to be the one who had everything—her family’s love, their attention—but now she was standing there, her eyes locked on Yn with an expression that was far from the sisterly affection Yn had once hoped for.
Yena’s gaze flickered to Taehyung, and Yn could see the bitterness in her sister’s eyes. She had never forgiven Yn for leaving, for choosing a life of freedom over staying to be her caretaker. But there was something else in Yena’s eyes—envy. Yn had something that Yena would never have: Taehyung’s love, his devotion, and his wealth.
Yn didn’t need to look at her family to know what they were thinking. They wanted her back. They wanted to undo everything they had done, to take her away from Taehyung, to return her to the life of subservience and neglect that she had once known.
The tension in the room was suffocating. Yn could hear her family murmuring in the background, trying to be subtle in their attempts to manipulate the situation. They wanted to take Yn back into their fold, but this time, they would have to face the truth of what they had done.
Taehyung stood, his presence commanding attention. His cold, calculating gaze swept over the room, making everyone fall silent. He was never one to tolerate disrespect, and he wouldn’t allow anyone to try to take Yn from him.
“Yn is mine now,” Taehyung said, his voice low and dangerous. “And I will not allow anyone—no matter who they are—to take her away from me.”
His words were simple, yet they carried so much weight. There was no negotiation. There was no room for them to twist the situation in their favor. Yn was his, and he would protect her with everything he had.
Yn looked at her family, her gaze cold. She had spent too many years trying to please them, trying to gain their love and approval. But no more. They had made their choices, and now they had to face the consequences.
“I’m done with you,” Yn said, her voice steady but firm. “You sold me away, and now you’re trying to act like nothing happened. I don’t need your approval. I have everything I need right here, with Taehyung.”
The silence that followed was deafening. Her family, once so full of power and control, now seemed small and insignificant in the face of the life she had built with Taehyung.
Yena opened her mouth to speak, but Taehyung’s icy gaze silenced her before she could utter a word. He had no patience for her or her manipulations.
Without another word, Taehyung took Yn’s hand and led her out of the room, leaving her family behind. They had lost her forever, and she wasn’t looking back.
As they left the estate, Taehyung turned to Yn, his eyes filled with quiet understanding. “Are you alright?”
Yn nodded, her heart finally at peace. “I’m more than alright, Taehyung. I’m home. With you.”
And with that, they walked out of her past and into their future. Together.
