AUTHOR'S POV
Y/n sat at the edge of her seat in the living room, her hands clasped tightly knuckles turning pale .
Across from her, her father sat silently, his hands resting on his cane while her mother looked at her with gentle yet worried eyes.
The ticking of the clock on the wall was the only sound filling the room, marking each second of silence with a heavy finality.
Her voice felt small and fragile as she spoke, but she pushed the words out. " Amma , Baba ... I need to leave India. I've decided to move to South Korea with Durva."
Her father's face remained stoic, though she could see the shift in his eyes—shock, disbelief, maybe even a hint of hurt.
Yes, her father never showed affection to her, but she knew that her father loved even though he didn't show it, but Yn felt it. Her mother's gaze softened, and her lips parted, but no words came out. Her father finally broke the silence.
" South Korea? So far ?Yn ...I don't understand."
Yn looked down on her hands, her voice breaking slightly.
" I can't stay here anymore, Baba. Everywhere I turn, there's something that reminds me of him. I feel like I'm suffocating in my own memories... and Durva deserves more. He deserves a mother who can be there for him fully without being haunted by ...by the past."
A tear slid down her cheek, which she quickly wiped away. " or else I won't be able to give my son the love he needs...I don't think I'll be able to even breathe in the same place as that man."
Her mother leaned forward, reaching put to grasp her hands, her voice warm and soothing.
" Beta, your heart has been through so much. If this is what you truly need to heal, then go. You have our blessings."
Her father signed deeply, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder. " We'll miss you, my dear . Just promise us you'll be safe . And don't forget —this will always be your home."
Yn nodded her heart greatfull for her parent's unwavering support and her father's love.
Feeling a mix of sadness and she resolved, she embraced both of them. " And don't forget to bring that boy of mine," her father said, smiling lightly.
" Let me go make tea," her mother said, leaving the father-daughter duo.
Time skip
The morning light filtered through the curtains, casting soft shadows across the small bedroom.
Yn knelt deside the bed gentle brushing her hand over Durva's tousled hair.
The little boy stirred his eyes fluttering open as he stretched a sleepy smile spreading across his cute face when he saw his mother.
" Good morning, sleepyhead," she whispered, tucking a loose strand of his hair in his ear.
" Today's a big day, remember?"
Durva blinked, his eyes slowly widening as he remembered, " we're really going to South Korea?"
He asked, sitting up a mixture of excitement and hesitation in his gaze.
Yn nodded her head, her heart softening as she took his small hands in hers. " Yes, baby. We're going to start fresh. Just you and me . Ready ?"
He nodded enthusiastically, but his brow frowned." But what if I miss home? Or Nana and Dada?"
Yn's smile softened, and she pulled him closer, pressing a gentle kiss on top of his head.
" We'll miss them too. But we'll call them every week . And we'll make new friends . New places and new memories."
Durva's face brightened his eyes, glinting with the excitement of possibility. " And maybe I'll meet BTS!" he said, his voice filled with childlike wonder.
She chuckled, smoothing his pajamas as she guided him towards the closet.
"Maybe," she replied, indulging his dreams with a smile. " Now let's get you dressed. We have a flight to catch."
As she helped him button his shirt, he looked up at her, his voice softer. " Amma...will you be happy there?"
The question caught her off guard, and she paused, gathering her thoughts before answering.
She knelt down, meeting his gaze. " You know, I think so. And as long as you're with me, Durva. I'll be okay. We're going to take care of each other, right?"
He nodded, wrapping his little arms around his mom's neck that felt like home.
Yn held him close and closed her eyes, allowing herself a small, hopeful smile.
