Ajay slammed his phone down onto the table, the sound echoing in the quiet of the dimly lit room.

The news of Y/N and Durva’s departure to South Korea had hit him like a punch to the gut, and the anger simmering beneath the surface was now boiling over.

How dare they leave? How dare she take his son away from him?

He paced back and forth, his mind racing.

Memories of Y/N flooded his thoughts—how she had always been defiant, always standing up for herself, and how that fire in her made him feel both alive and infuriated.

He had spent years trying to control her, molding her into someone who would never question him.

Yet, she had broken free, taking their son with her.

“Durva is mine,” he muttered under his breath, the words tasting bitter.

“You can’t just run away and pretend I don’t exist.”

His fingers curled into fists as he recalled the last time he had seen her, the confrontation that had led to their separation.

The anger had always been there, simmering beneath the surface, but he had always masked it with charm and control.

But now, he could feel it surging, threatening to consume him.

He picked up his phone again, dialing a number he hadn’t called in ages.

“Get me the information on Y/N’s whereabouts,” he barked as soon as the call connected.

“I want to know everything. Where she lives, where she works, and who she’s with.”

“Ajay, you know this is risky,” the voice on the other end warned. “You’re in a fragile position.”

“I don’t care,” he snapped, cutting off the hesitation.

“She thinks she can just leave and live her life without me? I will show her what happens when you cross me.”

He hung up, breathing heavily as he glanced out the window.

The dark sky loomed over him, matching the tempest inside his chest.

He could envision Y/N and Durva living their lives in Korea, having fun, and forgetting him.

The warm steam enveloped the small bathroom as Y/N filled the tub with warm water, adding just a hint of lavender soap that Durva loved.

She could hear her son’s excited chatter as he played with his rubber duckies on the edge of the tub, and it brought a smile to her face.

Moments like these reminded her of the simple joys in life, away from the chaos that sometimes felt overwhelming.

“Umma! Look!” Durva shouted, splashing water with his hands, sending droplets flying in every direction.

“The duck is swimming away!”

Y/N chuckled, reaching over to hand him the duck that had floated out of his grasp.

“Better catch it before it escapes! You don’t want to lose your favorite toy, do you?”

“No way!” he replied, his eyes wide with determination.

“I’ll keep it safe forever.”

She settled down on the edge of the tub, resting her elbows on her knees, watching him play.

“You know, you remind me a lot of that duck,” she teased.

“Always full of energy, always ready for an adventure.”

Durva giggled, his little hands grasping the duck as he held it high above the water.

“And you’re like the ocean, Umma! Always there to keep me safe!”

The innocence of his words tugged at her heart.

It was moments like this that she cherished most—when the world outside faded away, and it was just the two of them, lost in their own little bubble.

She watched as he splashed water around, laughter echoing off the bathroom walls.

“Durva” she began, her tone shifting slightly as she thought about the days ahead, “I want you to know how proud I am of you. You’ve been so brave since we moved here, and I see how much you’re trying.”

He paused, looking up at her with his big, innocent eyes.

“I miss my friends in India, Umma. But I like it here too. The food is different, and the flowers are so pretty.”

“I miss India too,” she admitted, her voice softening.

“But we’ll make new memories here together. And you know what? You can always keep in touch with your friends. You can even video call them.”

“Really?” His face lit up with excitement. “Can we do that soon?”

“Of course! Maybe this weekend?” Y/N suggested, feeling a wave of relief that she could offer him that connection.

“Yay!” he cheered, splashing water again.

“Can we make it a party? I want everyone to meet you!”

Y/N laughed, her heart swelling with affection.

“We’ll see, little buddy. Maybe we can have a virtual party together. Just you, me, and your friends. That sounds fun, right?”

“Yes! And I can show them the ducks!” he exclaimed, completely immersed in his world.

As she watched him, Y/N felt a sense of warmth envelop her.

The love she had for Durva filled her heart to the brim, momentarily overshadowing her worries about Ajay and everything else weighing on her mind.

In these simple, fleeting moments, she realized how much Taemin had grown and how much he needed her—and how much she needed him.

“Alright, mister,” she said, standing up.

“Time to rinse off and get ready for bed. We’ve got a big day tomorrow!”

“Can I have a story?” Taemin asked, his eyes lighting up at the thought.

“Of course! What story do you want?” she replied, reaching for a towel to wrap around him once he was done bathing.

“Maybe the one about the brave little prince who travels to find his lost kingdom?” he suggested, his voice dreamy as he imagined the adventure.

“That sounds perfect,” she smiled, leaning down to kiss his forehead.

“But first, let’s get you dried off.”

As she helped him out of the tub, she felt a flicker of hope and resilience in her heart.

She knew life would throw challenges their way, but for now, in this moment, filled with laughter and warmth, everything felt just right.
