help idk why but i imagined this whole chapter as an anime

SEREIA LUPIN had a thing for broken creatures. It wasn't any specific preference that she had, it always happened so that she ended up being attracted and befriending broken creatures.

It started when she was 13. A little sparrow with a broken wing had made its way to her porch, where it stayed the night and was spotted by the little girl in the morning. She tended to the bird, named her Birdie, and let Birdie free when it could fly.

Then, two years later, she shifted from Beuaxbatons to Hogwarts, and she met the ghost of Regina. It was a nightly stroll she was definitely not supposed to venture on, but she had never been a sucker for rules anyway. She found herself stumbling upon a dark, spooky corridor where she imagined the main character of a horror movie would die, and naturally, made her way in.

A pale, ethereal woman sat curled up against one of the many huge windows, her face lit by the sapphire moonlight. Sereia swore she was the prettiest woman she'd ever seen. The woman, on noticing her, rose to her feet, and then Sereia noticed that this was a ghost. Regina hurtled towards Sereia at top speed, passing through her efficiently. Sereia laughed. And it was then that they became friends.

Over the years, Sereia came to understand that Regina had no other friends. The ghosts strayed away from her in caution, and most students didn't even know that there were ghosts in the castle other than those select few that wandered through the halls throughout the day.

Sereia also came to understand that Regina had abandonment issues. It was clear as day that Regina had forgotten the way schools worked, for she was hysterical when she came to know that Sereia would be leaving Hogwarts, not only for the summer or for Yule, but forever. Hysterical enough to use her magic and try and trap Sereia in with her, to make sure she never leaves.

Yeah, that wasn't her favourite memory of Hogwarts. But it's the memory that kept playing on repeat as she made her way to the school, dry autumn leaves crunching beneath her black Doc Martens. She tugged her jacket closer, trying to cocoon herself from the wind.

Despite knowing that Regina mightn't be so easy with Sereia's departure this time, Dumbledore invited (begged for) Sereia to meet Regina, to find out why she's acting so hostile right before they're supposed to welcome the students back for yet another semester.

. . .

SHE WAS IN THE KITCHEN.

Sereia was a little surprised at how well she remembered the path from the main entrance to the kitchen, but that didn't last long. She had, after all, spent half her time at Hogwarts cocooned away in the warmth near the ovens, flipping through yet another book.

A frustrated groan escaped her cherry lips. Surrounding the viridescent, glowing spirit were levitating bowls, spoons and forks alike, accompanied by apples and oranges and several other fruits.

"What's this you've done, now?"

The spirit looked up, eyes widening and a childish grin spreading across her timeless, porcelain face. "Sereia! I didn't think it would work, but here you are!"

Regina levitated off the ground, making her way in front of the woman. "I. Hate. Dumbledore!"

A person unknown to Regina's antics would worry with how she grinned and clapped her hands, putting on a demeanor that showcased that maybe afterlife had made her a little crazy. But this was normal Regina, and Sereia didn't have anything to worry about yet.

"What did he do now?" she reached out for an apple, biting down into the sweet skin. "Other than putting kids in danger, as is usual."

"He wouldn't tell Castor about me." the ghost of the great Regina folded her arms over her chest, pouting. "And well, you know how bad that is!"

Sereia pinched the bridge of her nose, "Castor is still adjusting to Hogwarts, Reg. Give him time, and I'll have Maia herself tell him."

Regina rolled her eyes, grumbling, "The sooner, the better."

"I know, but he hasn't hurt anyone yet, has he?"

Regina raised her eyebrows, "Well, I do remember a fateful October night—"

"Ever since then!"

"No, unless my shadows are lying to me."

"Good. They're too scared to lie to you."

Sereia had munched away almost half of her apple. Regina watched in uncomfortable silence.

"So, that's all? That's why you wouldn't allow the school to reopen?"

Sereia had an eyebrow raised, her unoccupied hand propped on her hip.

"Ah, well, I had a proposal as well. . ."

Sereia narrowed her eyes. The way Regina was drumming her fingers another one another, the smug grin on her face, she knew it'd be a bad idea to even listen to it.

"Since Professor Binns has handed in his resignation . . . why don't you teach History of Magic, Sera?"

Sereia wanted to bang her head against the wall. No matter what she tries, she knows that escaping a proposal forwarded by Regina was impossible. A sigh escaped her lips.

"Fine. But school reopens next week, and if I see you bothering anyone while I'm on campus, you've had it."

Regina lit up like a child on Christmas receiving their favourite toys. She grinned and nodded and scurried off through the vents and back into the basement, where she'd always be.

. . .

HELLO, THERE! I'M REGINA.

No need to be scared, haha, I just thought that since I'm such an important part of Azalea Potter's story, I might as well introduce myself.

There are three things you need to know about me:

Yes, I'm a ghost. Yes, I still wield my powers from back when I was alive. No, I did not eat my own children — I wonder why that rumour has started circulating around school.

Oh, and one more thing! I'm not a prophet but I'd still warn you with a prophecy, out of the sheer goodness of my dead heart:
Castor Walker will bring in the apocalypse.

Alright, then, bye bye!

. . .
