Kellin is just so whipped for the drum major.

Yeah, he's a high school band geek, a percussionist who really should be focusing more on not fucking up and less on how hot Vic Fuentes looks when he's conducting the band. Conducting the band should not be hot. In most cases, it wouldn't be; it would be professional, and he would be focused, and they would practice without Kellin fantasizing about Vic's hands being on Kellin's hips instead of in the air. But Vic is hot, and he's also the drum major, which means he also helps conduct the marching band, and Kellin is doomed.

He thinks he'll be able to make it through the practice without anyone noticing just how distracted he is, but then he doesn't come in quick enough on the roll off—it's only a split second too slow, but it's still unacceptable—and Vic motions for them to stop, with their band director calling out from the side, "Too slow! Start again."

"Shit," Kellin mutters as they start over, his face heating up. Even though he knows Vic isn't looking directly athim but at the percussion section as a whole, he can't help but feel embarrassed. He wants to impress Vic, but he can't do that if he does more staring than playing.

The rest of the practice, Kellin does his best to focus, feeling the rhythms of the songs, but he looks at Vic, too—he has to; Vic's conducting. It's a major struggle.

Ha. Major.

When the practice is done, Kellin rushes over to the band director to ask about getting another copy of the practice schedule—he lost it somehow, of course, and he forgot to mark the rest of the dates on his calendar because, truth be told, he hardly ever looks at it. The band director is a bit preoccupied with another issue, though (because there's always some sort of issue), so he tells Kellin to ask Vic because "he can probably get another one for you."

Fuck.

Kellin's heart starts to pound as he makes his way over to Vic, who is socializing with some other, more popular people. "Um, Vic?" he says, his voice coming out high and sqeaky.

Vic turns around. "Hey, what's up?"

"Uh, I lost my schedule," Kellin says slowly, nervously playing with his hair. "Mr. Byrnes said to ask you about it—"

"Oh, yeah!" Vic says brightly, heading towards the office connected to the band room and motioning for Kellin to follow. "There are probably extra copies in here somewhere."

Kellin stands by the doorway awkwardly while Vic fishes through piles upon piles of papers. "There's so much shit in here, Jesus Christ," Vic says, finally turning around and pulling out a copy of the schedule. "Here you go. Kellin, right?"

Kellin takes the paper from him, trying to hold back a stupid grin. "Uh, yeah."

Vic nods. "Good job today." Then he heads out of the office and back into the band room.

Kellin lets out a sigh. Yeah, he's pretty hopeless. But he can't help it. Vic is just so irresistible.
