Unknowingly, Dawson had been in this world for three whole days, yet in those three days, he had not stepped outside the door. He had sent away his four personal maids, locked himself in his room, and no one knew what the young master of the Lin family was up to.

In front of the rockery, Dawson, bare-chested, was punching a stone pillar again and again. For three days, he had been relentlessly cultivating in hopes of quickly advancing from a fighter to a warrior.

He wasn't sure if he was a martial arts genius, but in just three days, he had gone from an ordinary person to an intermediate fighter, reaching a level that Dawson in his past life would never have been able to achieve.

After throwing the last punch, wiping the sweat from his forehead, Dawson bent down to wash up in the pond by the rockery. Every noon, he would take a break to eat and relieve himself, before resuming his cultivation.

Sitting on a stone, stroking the black tower mark on his chest, Dawson was very clear in his heart that his ability to cross into this world was entirely due to the black tower that had hit him when he was peeping at a beautiful woman bathing. If it weren't for the black tower, he might have already been in hell, meeting the King of Hell.

From the black tower, Dawson had learned a cultivation technique, the Nine-turn Life and Death Jue. As the technique described, the Nine-turn Life and Death Jue allowed one to ascend to the heavens with each turn, to experience life and death, and not enter the Yellow Springs. Dawson had already experienced a life-and-death situation, yet instead of entering the Yellow Springs, it had brought him to this strange world.

In addition to the Nine-turn Life and Death Jue, Dawson also learned a divine technique from the black tower, the Five Elements Escape. According to the Five Elements Escape, as long as one mastered it, they could escape through any of the five elements.

After three days of day and night cultivation, Dawson had not yet fully mastered the Five Elements Escape, but he was nearly there. If he wanted to leave the Lin family, he could do so without anyone noticing.

Aside from gaining two powerful techniques, Dawson had also acquired two alchemical recipes: the Bone-washing Pill and the Spirit Communication Pill. But Dawson's cultivation had already reached the intermediate fighter stage, and to continue advancing, he needed to open his meridians. Among the three stages of a fighter—tempering muscles and bones, opening meridians, and gathering battle energy—opening the meridians was the hardest.

However, if he could refine the Bone-washing Pill, opening the meridians would become much easier. As for the next level, the warrior, it involved connecting with the spiritual energy of heaven and earth, drawing it into the body to form the initial battle energy. Warriors could use this battle energy to protect their bodies.

If Dawson could refine the Spirit Communication Pill, advancing from a fighter to a warrior would be no problem. Dawson never expected that the black tower would contain such miraculous alchemical formulas in addition to the divine techniques.

But to refine these two pills, he needed an alchemy cauldron and herbs. Dawson didn't want anyone to know that he could make pills, so in the afternoon, he used the Five Elements Escape, which he had just learned, to silently leave the Lin family. Not a single person noticed his departure.

Walking down the street, Dawson marveled at everything around him. After all, he had been born on Earth, and this world was completely unfamiliar to him, with everything being different from what he knew.

For example, on Earth, the currencies were Renminbi, US Dollars, and Pounds, but here on Dongxuan Continent, the currency was gold coins, silver coins, and copper coins. One gold coin could be exchanged for ten silver coins, and one silver coin could be exchanged for ten copper coins.

He arrived at an antique store and bought a small ancient golden alchemy cauldron, about one meter high and weighing over a hundred pounds. After paying, he gave the shopkeeper the address and then headed to an herbal shop, where he bought all the necessary herbs to refine the two pills. Although the Lin family had fallen from grace, they were still one of the six prominent families of Sunset City. As the young master of the Lin family, Dawson still had plenty of money.

As he walked out of the herb shop, five young men holding fans approached him. Seeing them, Dawson's face immediately turned cold. These five weren't strangers—they were the same people who had tricked Dawson into spying on the Bawang woman bathing three days ago, leading to his being knocked unconscious.

The five were direct descendants of the newly risen families in Sunset City: the Li, Meng, Jin, Fang, and Huang families. The Lin family had already started to decline, and in four days, the family competition would be held. If any of the five families managed to defeat the Lin family, they would take its place as one of the six prominent families.

The competition was open to the direct descendants of each family, and it was well known that the Lin family only had Dawson as their representative. Given that Dawson was useless in both academics and martial arts, it was already clear that the Lin family would lose their spot in the competition.

But the other families weren't content with simply winning; they had secretly plotted to humiliate the Lin family by making Dawson make a fool of himself in Sunset City. If Dawson became a laughingstock, the Lin family would lose all their face, and they would have no choice but to leave the city.

"Impressive," one of them said as they approached. "I heard you were beaten half to death by the Bawang woman yesterday, yet today, you're still alive and kicking. Truly impressive."

Dawson's face darkened immediately. The five of them were the ones who had conspired against him, and now they were mocking him.

"I admire you all," Dawson sneered, "Last time, we agreed to spy on the Bawang woman bathing together, but you all ran off on your own. What a bunch of cowards."

The five of them burst out laughing. One of them spoke again, "How about a little bet today? I hear you're good at gambling, Dawson. We'd like to see if you're as good as they say."

Dawson raised an eyebrow, "A bet? Fine, but I won't play unless the stakes are at least 100,000 gold coins. Otherwise, there's no deal."

The five of them were momentarily taken aback. 100,000 gold coins was a lot of money—equivalent to the annual revenue of any of their families. However, they thought about Dawson's foolishness and the opportunity to take advantage of him, so they agreed without hesitation.

Half an hour later, they gathered in a quiet courtyard of the Jin family. The stakes were 100,000 gold coins a round, and the game was dice. The five were seasoned gamblers, and Dawson wasn't worried at all. Despite their mocking faces, he was confident he could win.

Li Bi Gu, the leader of the group, was the first to throw the dice. He rolled six sixes, the highest possible roll. The five of them were smug, certain that Dawson couldn't beat them.

Dawson took a deep breath and shook the dice in his hands, confident in his victory. After all, he had been a professional gamer in his past life, and he had spent countless hours studying dice games.

He shook the dice with dramatic flair, making sure to get the maximum effect, and finally, after much anticipation, he revealed the dice. To the shock of the five, the dice had split in half, and no matter how they looked at it, Dawson's roll was guaranteed to beat Li Bi Gu's.

Li Bi Gu's face turned white. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. "No way! You're cheating!"

Dawson just smiled coldly. "Let's continue. Next round."
