Chapter 33: Devouring

No one expected the sudden retaliation from the Zijiang Tyrant Dragon, especially not the gorilla. Seeing the Zijiang Tyrant Dragon charging toward him, the gorilla's face instantly changed, and he roared in terror, "The Beast Core self-destructing? Impossible!"

When a spirit beast breaks through to the sixth level, it triggers the Heaven's Thunder Tribulation. If it can survive its own tribulation, a Beast Core is formed within it, and the beast gains the ability to speak, with a substantial increase in strength.

The Beast Core also has a special use: self-detonation. However, a sixth-level spirit beast would rarely resort to such an extreme measure unless absolutely necessary. While a Beast Core's self-detonation could temporarily boost one's strength, it also marked the beast's destruction.

Knowing that it stood no chance, the Zijiang Tyrant Dragon first refrained from fighting back and let the gorilla strike it repeatedly, making him let down his guard. There was no escape. The gorilla seemed to have accepted his fate. Laughing to the heavens three times, he raised his fists and slammed them down toward the Zijiang Tyrant Dragon. But just as his fists were about to strike, the dragon's body exploded in a violent eruption.

A terrifying shockwave erupted from the Zijiang Tyrant Dragon's core, and not only did the gorilla get caught in the blast, but Dawson Lin, who had been trying to steal the dragon's blood, was also swept up in the explosion.

Dawson Lin didn't even know what happened. He only felt a terrible force coming at him, followed by the smell of blood flooding his nose, and then everything went black.
