Watching the two women disappear from sight, Dawson Lin was utterly speechless. He thought to himself, "What did I do to deserve this? I just wanted to catch a few fish to satisfy my cravings, and now I've walked into this?"
He shook his head helplessly. Aside from feeling a slight surprise at the strength of the lavender-haired girl, Dawson Lin quickly forgot about the two women and lost interest in continuing to fish. He returned to the shore, started a campfire, and began grilling the fish.
Soon, the aroma of the grilled fish began to spread around. Dawson Lin took a few deep breaths and patted his growling stomach. His appetite surged, and without a second thought, he picked up a fish from the fire and started eating.
He spent a full hour eating the fish, and finally, with a satisfied sigh, Dawson Lin stood up. He looked around—just forests and mountains. There were no first-level spirit beasts in sight, not even a shadow of one.
What Dawson Lin didn't know was that spirit beasts were rare on the Eastern Xuan Continent. Otherwise, warriors wouldn't risk their lives to enter the Magic Mountains to catch them. The so-called spirit beasts seen across the continent were actually magical beasts, completely powerless.
After filling his stomach, Dawson Lin left the riverbank and continued to explore the Magic Mountains. As he walked, a series of pig-like grunts reached his ears, mixed with a faint roar.
"Finally, I've found a spirit beast!" Hearing the pig grunts, Dawson Lin's heart leaped with excitement. Since coming to the Eastern Xuan Continent, this was the first time he'd heard of a spirit beast. Back on Earth, spirit beasts only appeared in fantasy novels. He had never imagined that one day he would get to see one in person.
He quickened his pace, and after a few twists and turns, Dawson Lin finally spotted the source of the noise. Near a dark cave, a wild boar, about two meters in size and one meter tall, with short black spines and eyes as large as copper bells, was glaring fiercely at an unusual spirit beast.
The creature had the head of a lion, the body of a dog, and the tail of a snake, standing about one meter tall, and there were around seven of them. They surrounded the wild boar in a semi-circle. The two parties seemed to be negotiating, but there were signs that the talks were falling apart. The wild boar continued to roar angrily, seemingly trying to vent all its frustrations.
After nearly half an hour of negotiation, the seven strange creatures slowly approached the boar. It seemed that they were cautious, moving slowly. Even Dawson Lin, watching from a distance, felt like going up and telling them to hurry up.
The distance between the two parties was less than 100 meters. Even though the creatures were moving slowly, they eventually reached the boar, now less than half a meter away. Suddenly, all seven of them leaped into the air, soaring up to three meters, like seven launched atomic bombs, unstoppable.
The wild boar's eyes narrowed coldly. It seemed completely unconcerned by the creatures, standing still outside the cave. In the blink of an eye, it spun around at lightning speed. Dawson Lin, watching from afar, didn't even have time to see how it happened, as the wild boar's speed was simply too fast.
With a thud, one of the creatures was sent flying back at an incredible speed, its body tumbling like a kite with a broken string, slamming into the ground with such force that it created a deep crater.
"Senior, this Flash Boar seems really powerful. It doesn't look like a first-level spirit beast," a voice came from behind, interrupting Dawson Lin's enjoyment of the spectacle.
Startled, Dawson Lin hadn't expected to encounter others in the Magic Mountains, especially at this moment when they were watching the battle from afar.
