Ten rounds in a row, none of the five had won a single round, whether big or small. Even Li Bigu was starting to feel a little shaken by the situation.
Dawson, though he often gambled, usually lost more than he won, but why was it that this time, in the game with these five, he seemed to have divine intervention on his side? Was it true that fate was not on their side?
"After ten rounds, you've lost all your hundred thousand gold coins. I'll give you a chance to get them back. Go and get another hundred thousand, and we'll continue," Dawson said generously, putting away the ten silver notes from the table.
"Go get another hundred thousand? Since Young Master Lin seems so interested today, we certainly can't spoil his fun," Li Bigu said, keeping a calm and unperturbed expression. After all, losing a hundred thousand gold was minor, but having Young Master Lin take his own hundred thousand coins back could help the Lin family greatly.
"Oh, sorry, nature calls. You go ahead and prepare the silver notes. I'll just step away for a moment."
"I also need to go. Why don't we go together?" Li Bigu said with a smirk.
Hearing this, Dawson looked at him with some interest, wondering if Li Bigu might be... one of those? But, well, it didn't matter; after all, he had won a hundred thousand gold from them. If he ran off now, they would surely be scolded when they got back.
As they walked, Dawson suddenly asked, "Li, there's something I've been wondering about. I'm not sure if it's appropriate to ask."
"Young Master Lin, don't be so polite. Feel free to ask whatever you wish. If I know the answer, I'll tell you everything," Li Bigu replied, putting on a carefully respectful attitude. After all, if the Lin family fell, the Li family would have a chance to take their place among the six major families of Sunset City.
"Why did you choose this name? Is there some special meaning behind it?"
"Oh, so that's what Young Master Lin is asking. My name was given to me by my grandfather. As for the meaning, I still don't know," Li Bigu thought to himself, feeling a bit annoyed. Why should he explain the origin of his name? Even if he did, would someone like Dawson, who couldn't even recognize a single character, understand?
Meanwhile, Dawson thought to himself, "Li Bigu... Li Butt? I was a university student in my past life—am I just ignorant, or did I misunderstand something?" He shook his head, still surprised by the name.
They arrived at the outhouse, and while Li Bigu was worried Dawson might escape, he couldn't enter the same outhouse. He could only wait outside, staring at the door, hoping Dawson would hurry up.
Inside the outhouse, Dawson couldn't be bothered to gamble anymore. He had already won a hundred thousand gold, which was more than enough for the five of them to handle. As for revenge, he'd deal with that after the family competition.
Using his "Five Elements Escape," Dawson silently slipped out of the outhouse, leaving Li Bigu waiting for three full hours. If Li Bigu hadn't finally gotten impatient and ordered someone to open the door, he might have stayed there much longer.
Back home, Dawson didn't waste any time. With less than four days remaining before the family competition, he had to refine two types of pills to raise his cultivation to the Warrior Master level. Only then could he help his family regain its former glory.
The alchemy cauldron he had just bought was delivered, and he immediately began preparing the various herbs he had purchased from the apothecary. Dawson had bought multiple sets of materials for pill refining. Even though he had never actually refined pills before, he had watched enough TV shows and read enough novels to know just how low the success rate was.
