Chapter 33: Yale and London

Luna's Pov

I look at my reflection in the mirror, the green dress I am wearing perfectly represents the upcoming fall season. My hair is perfectly secured in a bun. I did my makeup without making any mistakes. Everything looks so perfect, that it has started to scare me. I must tell Cole today that I am not going to Yale, and when I told him that I have applied for Yale I lied. Instead, I have applied to a University in London which offers the best courses for Event Management. I love organising any kind of event big or small, all the process of preparations for the event pumps me with a thrill. It makes me feel guilty that I cannot share all this with Cole. All this is going to end today, I am going to tell Cole about everything today.

"Miss Luna, Mr. Cole is here" Grace told me.

"Okay, Grace I am coming"

I can do this!

I can do this!

I can tell him!

When I saw Cole in front of my eyes, I was dumbfounded. I did not know what to say, he looked gorgeous like a Prince from those fairytales, So I just uttered one word, "Wow!"

"Luna! You look so beautiful!" He took me into his arms and gave me a little spin.

"Oh! Someone is too excited for debutant ball"

"Yes! I am, and I have good news for you" His face was beaming with happiness.

"What is it? Cut the suspense and tell me"

"I got an early acceptance into Yale"

"Wow! Cole Congratulations! I am so happy for you!" I hugged him and gave him a kiss.

"Next year, we will both studying at Yale, I can't believe I am so excited about college," he said with so excitement that I decided, will postpone telling him about my actual plans. I mean looked so happy and so handsome; I did not want to spoil his happiness. Truth can wait one more day. Today lie must protect his happiness.

"Yes, same here," I said.

Cole's Pov

I looked around the hall where the Debutant Ball would be happening. Everything looks amazing. I looked and Luna and told her everything looked perfect. She smiled at me and did not say anything. Something has been bothering her for quite a while. At first, I thought it must be the Debutant Ball, preparations, but looking at her it felt like it was not the Debutant Ball which is bothering her, it was something else. I will talk to her later.

"My perfect couple arrived" Ray said walking towards us.

"Was is it sarcasm?" I asked.

"No!" he said, defensively.

"Okay! You two, calm down" Luna said with a smile.

"Anyways, if you do not mind can I take your girlfriend with me? My mother is looking for her" Ray turned towards her and said.

"Yes," I said, Luna kissed me on the cheek and left with Ray.

I looked around, this place was so lavish and felt out of touch, still even if I didn't feel belonged there, I would try my best to belong to a place where Luna belonged. Suddenly my phone rang, it was Char. I picked the call.

"Cole! Please come here," Char Whimpered through the phone.

"What happened?"

"I slipped in the bathroom and fell down, Cole please come I am alone in the house," She cried.

"Okay, I coming" I told her and hung up the call, but how can I leave? The Ball? I looked at Luna who was talking to one of the waiters, she was busy I would inform her later, and I left the place in a rush without informing anyone.

When I reached Char's Mom was already there, and she had called the Doctor also. It had been months since Char's accident all her casts removed and she stopped using crutches also. She only had to wear a knee brace for support. Now she was lying on the bed with a soft collar neck brace around her neck.

"Char, are you okay?" I asked.

"She is fine, she has just sprained her neck. It is not severe so do not worry," Doctor told me.

"Thank God!" I sighed with relief.

"I know you," Doctor said looking at me, "You were there when Charlotte was in the hospital"

"Yes, I was there"

"Are you two dating?" he asked.

"No!" I replied without waiting for a second. I looked at Char she was all red. "We are just childhood friends," I told him.

"Okay," he said with a smile.

"I am so sorry Cole, for calling you like this it looks like you were busy" Char said.

"Oh, it's okay. I am supposed to be at the Debutant Ball. I think I should leave," I told her.

"Sounds like it's for Luna"

"Yes, it is for Luna, and I have to be there now," I said in a hurry and left.

When I reached the venue of the debutant ball, it had already started, and Luna was dancing with Ray. They looked like a couple, those rich old money kind of couple.

"They both look nice right", Mrs. Wright, Ray's mother said. When she saw I didn't reply, she continued, "They are made for each other, and they both will eventually find their back to each other, especially when now both of them will be going to University in London."

"London? No, are mistaken Luna is going to Yale" I told her. Has this woman lost her mind? I know she wants Luna and Ray to get back together, but whatever she is talking about is insane.

"Oh! Poor thing! You do not know?" she said mockingly, she was enjoying this.

"Luna, never applied to Yale, she is going to business school in London, and Ray is doing the same thing"

"It can't be true" I looked at Luna dancing with Ray, and the past few days flashed in front of my eyes, Luna being tense these days, it all made sense now. She is not going to Yale University with me. She is going to London University with Ray.
