"Are you even listening to what I'm trying to say here? Can you at least show some interest? I don't even want to be married to you in the first place! If you at least tried to say no, we wouldn't be here, having this conversation right now!" Lethia shouted, trying to gain Mallory's attention.

Mallory was reviewing some work documents when Lethia suddenly barged into her home office.

"What's wrong now? You know, I thought marrying a judge means I get someone who knows how to collect herself. But I am wrong. I have never met such an annoying judge like yourself. I'm busy. When you leave, please close the door." Mallory smiled at Lethia before focusing on the documents in her hands.

"So I'm the annoying one now?! I've been trying to speak to a brick wall for the past ten minutes! Can't you just try and talk to your grandparents? I tried to talk to mine but they said I couldn't file for a divorce! I know I'm just a sore in your eyes. So just let me go." Mallory sighed before placing the document down on the table.

"Well, madam, I can't do that. My grandparents look forward to this union and they are happy that we are together. Can we at least be a decent couple in front of them and our acquaintances? You may do whatever you want when there is no one around. Isn't that a good desk for your side?" Lethia slammed her hands on the table.

"No! I don't want this marriage! I want to marry Jeremiah! I can't marry him because I'm married to you! Let me go!" Mallory clicked her tongue in annoyance.

"Give this marriage some time. Let my grandparents be happy for at least a year or two. When the time comes, I will personally file for the divorce. Now please leave. Unlike you who only cares about that man, I have mountains of things to do. Get out!" Lethia flinched when Mallory raised her voice against her.

"And use your own car when you go on a date with that man. I don't like the smell of musky cologne in my car."

Lethia screams in frustration before leaving the room. But before that, she even took the chance to slam the door as loud as she could. Mallory sighed.

"What? It's my car." Mallory shakes her head before she continues to do her work.

Mallory was tying her hair to a ponytail before she started walking on the treadmill. It's been a habit of hers as she exercise, she would watch the news on her investment and stocks. Mallory was minding her own business when she heard someone entering the indoor gym.

"Mallory dear-," Mallory's eyes widen when she recognised the voice immediately.

"Grandpa?! What are you doing here? I thought you went to Europe with grandma. How's the trip?" Issac Eastwood sighed.

"Your grandmother suffered an injury. So we have no choice but to shorten our trip." Mallory was shocked when she heard the news. She turned off the treadmill and required more information about her grandmother.

"Don't worry- she is with the best doctor and nurses around. I'm here because I heard some unsettling news about your wife." Mallory sighed mentally.

"While you were traveling? Grandpa, didn't I say I will handle this matter myself? Who told you about Lethia?" Isaac smiled.

"Mallory dear, if possible, this country was within my grasp but I'm just an old businessman who hates politics the most. It's not that hard since I have eyes and ears everywhere. And since your wife works at the Supreme Court, information has been flowing like rivers. Now tell me dear, did she ask for a divorce?" Mallory nodded as she got herself a bottle of water.

"But don't worry. Her parents didn't allow her to do so. And even if she tried to file them herself, the contract bounds her from doing so. So for the time being, it should be okay. Just until the matter is solved, we will remain as a couple by law." Isaac hummed.

"I'm sorry for putting you in this situation. It's just- Lethia's grandparents were an old friend and when I heard that the Laurents were in trouble, I couldn't help but to help them out of habit. I wasn't thinking when I involved you in this matter. It was a contract we made when we're young and stupid. To marry our grandchildren so we could be a family— I'm sorry, Mallory dear." Mallory smiled.

"It's fine. It's the least I could do to repay what you have done for me, grandpa." Isaac reached out to her granddaughter.

"You're the only one who obeys me, Mallory dear. The rest of your cousins can't even do what is expected of them. I am very disappointed when they say awful things about you." Mallory let out a chuckle.

"All they could do is bark like a dog. Besides, you appointed me as the chairwoman through many obstacles. Everyone had their chance to prove their worth. It's their fault for being stupid." Isaac laughed.

"Your straightforwardness reminded me of your mother when she first met my son! You truly are their daughter!" Isaac continues to laugh while rubbing on Mallory's shoulder.

"Now, speaking about your wife— where is she? It's the weekend— I assume she's out with her partner?" Mallory shrugged her shoulders.

"Who knows- the last time we talked, we had an argument. Why?" Isaac hummed.

"I was thinking of having dinner together. But if she's not here, should we go out and eat?" Mallory was about to say something when she saw Lethia's car drive up the road leading to the porch.

"Speaking of the devil, she's here." Isaac hummed.

"And you have no idea where she goes?" I shrugged.

"Do I have to know where she goes?" Isaac placed a hand on Mallory's shoulder.

"Yes- she is legally your wife. You two are married." Mallory the thoughts away.

"Sure- we are married. Anyway, do we have to have dinner with her?" Isaac gave Mallory a look.

"You two have never shared a table together since you moved in?" Mallory shakes her head no.

"I don't see the point in doing so." Isaac sighed.

"Mallory, I understand the frustration but why not try to be nice? Sure she's a woman who knows how to bend her words since she's a judge but who knows she might open her heart even for a bit? She agreed to be with you until the matter is solved, right? Are you really going to live like strangers until then?" Mallory gave her grandfather a small smile.

"Yes. It's futile to try to be friendly with someone like her, grandpa. You'll know soon enough." Seconds after Mallory said that, Lethia barged into the indoor gym and started yelling at Mallory.

"What have you done to Jeremiah?!" Lethia was surprised when she saw Issac standing next to Mallory.

"Oh, grandpa— I'm sorry for yelling. I was told that you were traveling to Europe. I didn't know you were here." Isaac hummed.

"We had to go back since my wife was injured. It's nice to see your energetic self, Lethia dear." Mallory smirks as Lethia seems embarrassed.

"Anyway, since you're here, let's go to dinner together. Get ready. I'll be waiting for the both of you downstairs." Isaac smiled.

Mallory gave Lethia a death glare the moment Issac leaves the gym.

"Just— be on your best behavior."
