I am scrubbing down the walls. I feel annoyed at the fact that I am stuck cleaning up blood from Claudia's gun going off and shooting Derek. And then they forced us to close the bar for two days, so it dried up too. But it is my bar and my responsibility. "Hey, sis! Where do you want the extra bucket of straws?" Hannah asks as she pushes through the bar doors.

Natalia quickly pushes her hand against the door to hold it open for Hannah. "I am happy that you're home for at least a few days." Natalia smiles. "Lacey has gone through hell without you here. Sadly, some of it was my doing. But, with all things said, I am happy you are home." She steps back as Hannah rushes toward the end of the bar.

I smile and shake my head. "I still can't get over the fact that Hannah thinks we are millionaires because of the house."

"House?" Hannah drops the bucket. She turns around and scoffs. Her mouth is hanging halfway open, and her eyes are wide. She looks like I just lied about the death of someone important. "That isn't a house. You have a freaking theater on the lower level. You have a tennis court in the backyard! It is one of the very few mansions in this small Podunk town. And we aren't even that southern." She is shaking her head as she walks back toward the kitchen doors. "House! You two are a bunch of crackheads!"

I begin to chuckle, and I watch as Natalia chuckles too. I lean against the bar. I still remember when she and I were growing up and when I had a dad who did not lie, we spent our weekends in the summer at a small one-bedroom cabin thinking it was the rich people's thing to do. It took us until we were grown up to understand that our parents only did that to save money. We always thought it was a vacation.

Jared walks by with his bucket of clean glasses and center holders. "How long have y'all known each other for now?" He steps around the bar and stops. He looks back at me in confusion. "What the hell am I doing?"

"I don't know. You're supposed to put those glasses up here." I speak. I am trying to clean this old gunk stuck to the bottom part of the bar where Bill and Jack usually sit. "Hannah and I have known each other since kindergarten. Kind of. She moved for a while and then we ended up"

"Don't you say it, Lacey!" Hannah interrupts as she pushes through the bar doors with a case of beer. I step out of her way as she walks through and sets it near the cooler. She quickly brushes her hands together and stands up. She turns to me and nods her head in annoyance. She has a profoundly serious look on her face. "No one needs to know about our past!"

"I do!" Natalia has her hand raised and the look on her face tells me I should have kept my mouth shut.

I clear my throat and press my hand hip against the bar. I chew on the bottom of my lip while looking at Hannah and her irritated face. Jared looks over with a giant shit-eating grin on his face. "Y'all kind of hooked up! I remember that!" He points and looks at Natalia. "And no boo. They did not get intimate. They both regretted it. It was a drunken night one-time thingy...right?" he looks back over at us.

My eyes widen. I feel like I am trapped in a game show, and I must have the right answer, or I will lose everything. "Honestly! Yeah, we both knew it was a mistake. And thanks for letting the cat out of the bag Jared!" I shake my head and turn around. He has made me angry. It is extremely hard for any one of my friends to make me angry, but he managed today. "I am out for the day guys! I have an appointment and I cannot miss it."

I catch Natalia's curious face staring at me. She had no idea I had an appointment. "Do you want me to come with you?" She gets up from the barstool. "Don't even answer that. I am coming with you whether you like it or not."

I lower my eyelids and scan her from head to toe. "Fine by me. I was expecting you to come with me. I wasn't wanting to go by myself, dork." I smile and swipe my car keys from the counter. I watch as Jared tilts his head. He looks slightly annoyed that I am leaving unexpectedly.
