"Yeah." I interrupt, feeling uncertain. I scoff and shake my head again. I glance down at the Ben WA balls in the sink still filled with soap. "I don't get it. It was an amazing night. I know you don't need to know details, but she and I just had one hell of a wild ride." I pick up the balls and flash them at Rya. "We've been playing with these all night throughout the party. I was playfully joking with her and said the wrong thing and she took offense and stormed out of the bathroom. I don't know how to talk to her sometimes." I release a long breath and glance toward the sink.
Rya has a half smile, and it is so crooked I can see she is chewing on her cheek. I do not think she knows how to respond. She has never been a huge problem solver, but she is always there for me. I figured she would have answers this time.
She pushes off the door. "Oh, she loves you. You will never have to worry about her leaving you." Her eyes stared at the sink. She releases a quick breath and looks like she is holding words back. She lowers her head and rubs her forehead. "I'm sorry!" Her tone sounds uncertain but curious. "Are those Ben WA balls? And were those inside of you?"
I purse my lips to hold back from laughter. I put my hand up to my mouth to cover the smile forming on my face. I can see she is serious, and I want to bust out in laughter. "Yes, those are Ben WA balls. And no, they were not inside of me. They were inside Natalia."
"Oh!" She quickly smirks and throws her hand in the air. "That somehow just made it worse. Is that the wild ride you were talking about?" She takes a deep breath and averts her eyes. She quickly shakes her head. "Hold on! Do not even answer that. Umm..." She pauses. "For once, I don't have an answer for you. I know we are best friends, but Gemma and I are having our problems, and I am kind of stuck. I am sorry I couldn't be more help." She turns around and wraps her hand around the doorknob.
I hesitate. I do not know what to say to her. She is always there for me. I have never needed to be there for her. "Rya, hold on!" I quickly say. She turns around. I can see hurt in her eyes. She is upset and I did not see it when she walked in. I am one of her best friends and I did not see it. "Please. Tell me what is going on between you and Gemma. You and I are supposed to be here for each other, and I have not been the friend that you should have. We are closer than most people. If it were not for the love I feel for Natalia, you and I would be closer than that. Please." I tapped my hand on the counter and gestured for her to come over by me.
She glances back toward the door. She looks back at me. I can see the tears slowly forming in her eyes. She rushes over to me. Her arms are open wide. I quickly wrap my arms around her. She begins to bawl in my arms. She leans her head into my shoulder. "I think Gemma is leaving me!" She cries harder and presses her head into my neck and shoulder. "We've been fighting like crazy and although the sex has been amazing! She is just not who she was before. It's like the closer we get, the more she changes."
I glance up at the door. Natalia is standing there staring. My eyes grow wide, and I twist my lips toward the side of my face. I give her a saddened look. Rya's bawling harder. Natalia raises a hand and nods her head. I watch her lips move. "I love you!" She mouths to me. She smiles. I am holding Rya, but I still blow a kiss to Natalia. I smile and lower my head. I watch as she slowly closes the door and leaves. It makes me realize that sometimes our arguments are not that big of a deal. Sometimes our big fights are a slight problem in this world. So small of a problem that it would be like a grain of sand on the beach.
I gently pulled her head back. I stared into her face. "Here is what I can finally say to you after all this time. If it is meant to be, it will be. If she is not meant for you, then you will know in your heart. And I promise you, you will know."
She sniffles. "I am sorry Lace, but that was not very helpful..." She gives a small smile. "At all." She releases a small giggle.
"No." I smile. "But I got you to laugh. That was a pretty hard feat." I slide my hands against her hips. "You aren't just my best friend. You are part of my world. And I can promise, no matter what happens between you and Gemma, it will not end who we are. So, always know you can come to me anytime there is a problem."
She wipes the tears away from her eyes. She is slowly nodding her head. I can see the hurt in her eyes, but I can also see a bit of hope and a little gleam. "This wasn't that helpful..." Her smile grows a little larger. "But it did something and that's all that matters to me. The fact that you told me I will have you no matter what, actually made me feel a little more confident in myself."
"Well, duh!" I slowly press away from her, slide my hands into hers and intertwine them. "You and I have a bond that can never be broken. We are not just best friends and I think you know that. Natalia and I are forevermates. You and I are something else and always will be. I just don't have a name for it."
She slides her hand against the bit of water sitting on the edge of the sink. "Second forevermates." She jokes. She quickly avoids her eyes from mine. She steps away and leans and tilts her head against her shoulder.
I shook my head and grabbed her hand. "Yes! Babes! Second forevermates. One day in another life, it will be you and I."
She scoffs. "I wish it was now." Her eyes grew wide. "I didn't mean to say that out loud. I did not mean to say that at all. Shit! I am so sorry babes! I am so lost and confused."
I held up my hand like a stop sign to get her to go quiet. "Babes! Stop! It is fine. You are speaking your mind. You have every right to do that. I do not blame you. You and I have had this connection for a long time, and you will never be able to experience it...unless Natalia somehow tragically had something happen and even then, I do not know if I would ever heal if I lost her. I understand. I will always love you and life can be cruel. I do believe you and Gemma have something special and I hope you two truly can work things out. If not, then there will be someone out there for you."
"You're right. I should calm myself down. It's a lot and I am overthinking everything." She sucks in her bottom lip and glances down at the floor. I can see the hurt and confusion on her face. She is trying her best to hide it, but it is showing clearly. "I should probably go find her. She is more than likely out there crying somewhere too. I kind of up and left her."
"Well then yeah!" I interrupt her and release my hands from hers. "Go find your girl. I mean it babes! If you two are meant to be...it will work out. If not, then you know you got me in your life no matter what." I smile and lean my hands against the bathroom counter.
She flashes a smile and opens the bathroom door. She steps out and glances over her shoulder at me one more time. She slowly closes the door. I take a deep breath and quickly exhale a long and much-needed breath. I feel ready for bed after all of this.
