Sports festival!!

________________________________________________________________________________

The atmosphere was electric as everyone gathered in the stands, watching the massive stadium fill up with students from various schools. It was time for the annual U.A. Sports Festival, and Class 1-A was buzzing with excitement, despite the undeniable pressure. Y/N sat with her classmates, trying to focus on the event ahead, but her mind kept wandering.

This is a big deal... but why do I feel like I'm going to mess it all up?

She glanced over at Bakugo, who was already glaring at the arena in front of them with intense focus. His usual fiery energy was evident, though he looked calm—too calm. He was taking everything in like he always did: with determination and that unshakable confidence. But for some reason, his attention flickered toward her every now and then, his sharp gaze darting away whenever she noticed.

What's his deal?

Y/N shook her head, trying to focus on the event. She didn't have time to figure out his moods right now, especially with the trials ahead. But she couldn't deny that something was off. Something felt... different.

This was it—the moment they had all been training for. The first event was the obstacle course race, and she knew it was time to prove herself.

I've got this, Y/N thought, feeling the wind stir around her. Her wind manipulation quirk would be perfect for this kind of race. It was all about using speed, agility, and quick thinking, and she had those qualities in spades.

"Alright, everyone!" Aizawa's voice cut through the air, his gaze unwavering as he addressed the class. "You all know the rules. First one to cross the finish line wins. There will be obstacles along the way. No holding back. On your marks—"

Y/N's breath slowed as she focused, gathering her thoughts. She needed to stay calm.

"Get set... GO!"

The starting gun went off, and the students shot forward, sprinting toward the first obstacle. Y/N's legs moved quickly, but she wasn't in the front.

I'll catch up, she thought, activating her wind quirk. She focused her energy and felt the gusts of air flow around her, giving her a small but effective boost. The wind helped her lift just above the ground as she quickly gained speed, moving through the course with ease.

As they neared the first obstacle, Y/N's eyes narrowed. It was a series of robotic enemies scattered across the path—these were the first challenge they had to face. The robots were built to test their strength and strategy. Some of the robots were small, while others were much larger and tougher.

"Move out of the way!" Bakugo's voice rang out as he blasted forward, using his explosions to break through any robots that came in his way.

Y/N, however, used her wind quirk to create a powerful gust, pushing the robots back and sending them tumbling out of her way. She wasn't trying to destroy them like Bakugo. She was more focused on staying on course, moving quickly without getting bogged down by the obstacles.

She could hear Todoroki's quiet movements behind her as he froze the robots in his path, creating a clear trail. He's efficient, Y/N thought, impressed. But I'm not letting him beat me.

As the race continued, the robots started getting more aggressive, firing lasers and trying to block the students' paths. Y/N darted around them with her wind, avoiding their attacks with ease. She could feel the wind swirling around her, guiding her past the danger.

Up ahead, the next obstacle was even worse: a series of massive, twisting ropes suspended over a large pit. Students had to climb or swing across, and if they weren't careful, they'd fall into the mud below.

Izuku was the first to reach the ropes, moving cautiously as he climbed up. No time for that, Y/N thought. She used her wind quirk to lift herself up, staying above the ropes entirely, her speed unhampered by the physical task.

"Hey, watch it!" she heard Bakugo yell as he shot past her, using his explosions to blow himself up toward the ropes.

She didn't pay him much attention, though. Her focus was on reaching the next obstacle—the minefield.

A large section of the track ahead was filled with land mines and other explosive hazards. The students had to maneuver around them carefully to avoid triggering any explosions. Y/N took a deep breath, focusing on the wind around her as she began to pick up her pace.

Up ahead, Izuku was already tiptoeing around the mines, careful not to trigger anything. Y/N's wind quirk gave her the edge, though. With a controlled burst of wind, she cleared a path in front of her, blowing the mines aside so she could race ahead.

But just as she thought she was out of danger, an explosion rang out. The force of the blast sent her stumbling, her wind barrier just barely managing to shield her from the worst of it. Her heart raced, and she glanced around, trying to figure out what had happened.

Bakugo, she realized. Of course.

With her footing still steady, Y/N continued pushing through. The finish line was in sight now, and the race was almost over.

Y/N surged ahead, her wind propelling her faster. As she rounded the final bend, she saw Todoroki ahead of her, his ice skating skillfully keeping him in the race. She wasn't going to let him win this time. With one final push, she summoned a strong gust of wind that boosted her to incredible speeds, launching her past Todoroki.

"Tch. Don't get too cocky," Bakugo sneered as he came into view, his explosive speed helping him gain ground.

But it wasn't enough. Y/N reached the finish line just ahead of Bakugo, her wind carrying her across the final stretch.

The crowd erupted in cheers as Y/N crossed the finish line, her chest heaving with exhaustion. She had made it—she was one of the first to finish. Todoroki wasn't far behind her, and Bakugo finished just after him, grumbling under his breath.

"Nice work, Y/N," Todoroki said, giving her a rare smile. "You were impressive."

Y/N grinned back. "Thanks, Todoroki. You were amazing, too."

Before they could talk more, Bakugo's voice rang out, loud and irritable, as usual. "Tch. Slowpokes. You'd better catch up next time."

Y/N chuckled, wiping some sweat from her brow. "Don't get too cocky, Bakugo. It's just the first event."

But something in his glare made her pause. Bakugo wasn't just irritated about losing. There was something else in his eyes—something unreadable.
