Chapter 5: Sagittarius' Pov
The night air was cool, but the bonfire made everything feel warm and alive. Sagittarius grinned as she leaned over the fire, her marshmallow stick dangling from her hand. The flames crackled and popped, throwing shadows on everyone's faces. There was something about this moment-new faces, new connections, and the promise of adventure in the air. This was exactly what she'd been hoping for when she decided to come to Zodiac Academy.
"Watch out!" Aries called, his voice full of excitement, as he aimed his marshmallow stick toward Scorpio. "You're about to be toasted!"
Scorpio shot him an icy glare, but there was no malice in it-just that typical, unapproachable vibe he carried around. Still, Sagittarius could see a flicker of amusement in his eyes as he ducked just in time. She let out a laugh. These guys are definitely going to be fun to mess with.
Leo, who had been mostly quiet until now, leaned forward with a grin. "I don't know, I think Aries is too fast for Scorpio tonight. He's got that fire in his eyes."
Aries made a dramatic show of wiping his brow. "I always bring the heat."
Taurus, standing off to the side with Capricorn, shook his head in amusement. "You guys act like you're training for a gladiator match."
"Hey, we're just having a little fun," Aries said, puffing out his chest. "You should join in. It's more exciting than watching."
Capricorn, ever the observer, smirked, his arms crossed. "Not my style. But I'll keep watching you all act like fools."
Sagittarius grinned at that. She liked Capricorn's dry humor. He didn't seem to want to be here, but he was still willing to watch the chaos unfold. That made him interesting.
Across the fire, Libra and Gemini were locked in a heated debate. "I'm telling you, this is the best way to roast marshmallows!" Gemini said, holding her marshmallow stick over the flames.
"No, no, no," Libra disagreed, her voice full of mock seriousness. "The only right way is slow and steady. Let the marshmallow melt evenly. That's the art of it."
Gemini rolled her eyes. "That's boring! I'm all about the quick burn."
Sagittarius couldn't help but laugh, enjoying the back-and-forth. It was refreshing to be around so much energy, so much banter. There was no pressure, no expectations-just everyone being themselves, learning the ropes of who everyone else was.
Pisces, quiet as usual, was sitting on the grass with Aquarius, talking softly between themselves. They both seemed completely at ease, their laughter blending with the others around the fire. For a moment, they looked like they were in their own little world, but it was a peaceful one.
Mini, who had been sitting on the edge, finally stood up, brushing the dirt off his jeans. He looked around at everyone before grinning. "I thought I'd just observe, but I think I might join in after all."
"Finally!" Leo exclaimed, motioning for him to come over. "We need someone else to spice things up around here."
Mini shrugged but smiled. "I'm more of an observer, but you all look like you're having too much fun to stay out of it."
"Come on, Mini!" Sagittarius called out, waving him over. "The more, the merrier! The night's just getting started, and I'm not about to let it be boring."
He hesitated for a second before walking over to join the group. "Alright, alright. I'll give it a try."
As the fire crackled and the conversations swirled, the group settled into a rhythm. There was laughter everywhere-Aries teasing Scorpio, Leo sharing a ridiculous story about something that had happened in class, Taurus quietly adding sarcastic comments, Gemini and Libra bickering over marshmallow techniques, and Pisces and Aquarius talking about something deep, though no one really understood it.
Sagittarius stood in the middle of it all, soaking it in. She loved the way everything felt spontaneous and light-hearted. These people, though they were all new, had a way of making her feel like they'd known each other for ages. And even though everyone was getting used to each other, there was an undeniable chemistry, a feeling of things falling into place, as if they all belonged together-each bringing their own spark to the fire.
The best part? No one was trying to impress anyone. It was just real, and she loved that. She could tell it wasn't going to take long before they all started to form connections, bonds that would only get stronger as the days went by.
"Alright, everyone," she called out over the chatter, grabbing everyone's attention. "I propose a game."
"Of course you do," Aries said with a grin. "What kind of game are we talking?"
"Truth or dare?" Leo repeated, clearly amused. "I'm in."
"Truth or dare sounds too tame," Scorpio grumbled from his spot. "But sure, I'm game."
Libra raised an eyebrow. "As long as no one dares me to do anything embarrassing."
"I dare you to take the dare!" Gemini said with a mischievous wink, and the group erupted into laughter.
Everyone settled in, ready for whatever chaos came next, and Sagittarius grinned, feeling the excitement build. This was the start of something fun, and she couldn't wait to see how it all played out.
