Virgo pov

Chapter 4: Sparks and Shadows

Virgo sat alone on one of the wide, sun-drenched benches outside Zodiac Academy's main hall, her notebook open across her lap as she scribbled aimlessly.

Just then, she noticed a tall figure approaching from the side. It was Capricorn. His steady, quiet demeanor always seemed to settle the room whenever he was around, and he offered her a calm nod as he took a seat at the opposite end of the bench.

"New here too?" he asked, his voice low and level, watching her curiously.

Virgo nodded, giving him a small smile. "Yeah. I just got here. Everything still feels a little... overwhelming, I guess."

Capricorn raised an eyebrow. "It's a strange place," he agreed, his gaze wandering around the campus. "But sometimes, places like these bring out things in people. Things they didn't expect."

Virgo tilted her head, curious. "What do you mean?"

Before he could answer, Scorpio appeared out of nowhere, hands shoved deep in his pockets as he stood nearby, looking at Virgo with a kind of indifference that she was quickly realizing was just his natural state.

"Hey. Mind if I join?" Scorpio didn't wait for an answer, settling down next to Virgo, closer than she'd expected. She noticed the way his fingers tapped against his knee as he glanced at Capricorn, almost daring him to stay.

Capricorn merely gave a slight nod, as if acknowledging Scorpio's presence but not intimidated in the slightest. "I'll leave you to it," he said to Virgo, offering her a small smile before getting up. As he walked away, Scorpio's shoulders relaxed, his usual dark expression softening just a bit.

"Do you know that guy?" he asked, nodding in Capricorn's direction.

Virgo shook her head. "Not really. We were just talking. He seems... nice?"

Scorpio rolled his eyes slightly. "Nice is boring." He leaned back, the faintest smirk tugging at his lips as he looked at her. "You don't like boring, do you?"

She found herself blushing, glancing down at her notebook. "I... I don't know what I like yet," she mumbled, feeling an odd warmth in his presence. His silence held an intensity that was both intimidating and intriguing.

Leo's voice called out, breaking the moment. He was approaching with Libra, their laughter cutting through the tension as they strolled over. Leo's golden hair caught the light, his easy charm filling the space around them.

"Mind if we join?" Leo asked, his eyes lingering on Virgo before glancing at Scorpio. "Didn't mean to interrupt anything."

Scorpio scoffed, crossing his arms but saying nothing. Leo took that as permission, sitting down on the other side of Virgo, while Libra joined with a shy smile.

Libra's gaze flicked to Leo when he wasn't looking, a soft, almost wistful look in her eyes. Virgo noticed it but kept quiet. Everyone seemed to have their own secrets here, and she felt that strange, subtle pull between her new friends except Scorpio which was I childhood friend and best friend.

"Are you guys going to the bonfire tonight?" Leo asked, flashing his usual bright smile.

"Bonfire?" Virgo asked, looking between them, excitement bubbling up at the thought of finally having something social to do.

"Yeah, it's like an initiation for new students," Libra explained, her voice soft and gentle. "They say it's a chance to get to know each other better."
