Aquarius' POV
It's hard to find a moment of peace in this chaos of a school, especially when everyone around me seems to be connecting or finding their place. I stand on the edge of the common area, watching as people talk, laugh, and flirt.
On one side of the room, Virgo and Capricorn are deep in conversation. Virgo has this quiet, almost ethereal quality about her, like she's always lost in thought. Capricorn, on the other hand, listens intently, his expression serious but softening whenever he looks at her. I can't quite tell if they're friends or if there's something more between them. Either way, they seem to have this effortless connection.
Across from them, Cancer and Aries are huddled close, whispering to each other. They're practically inseparable; Cancer is warm and compassionate, and Aries is all fire and energy, like he's ready to take on the world as long as Cancer is by his side. It's almost nauseatingly sweet, and I roll my eyes. But, if I'm honest, they seem good together-balanced, in a strange way.
My eyes shift to Leo, who's leaning casually against the wall, watching everyone with a confident smirk. He catches Libra's eye across the room, and I see the subtle smile that spreads across her face. She tries to play it cool, but there's no denying the way she looks at him. Leo notices, of course, but I'm not sure he realizes just how much she likes him. Knowing him, he probably thinks she's just one of many admirers.
Then there's Taurus and Gemini, who are laughing about something at the edge of the group. Gemini's animated, her words flowing in that quick, captivating way that always draws people in. Taurus just grins, watching her with a kind of patient amusement, like he's happy to be along for the ride. They're an odd pair, but they balance each other out. Taurus's grounded nature seems to anchor Gemini's more flighty personality, and it actually works.
Finally, my gaze falls on Sagittarius, who's sitting by herself, her fingers idly tracing patterns on the wooden table in front of her. She has this wild, carefree energy about her, like she'd rather be anywhere else, running free. There's something magnetic about her, something that makes it impossible to look away. I've never been one for instant connections, but with her, it's different. I don't know what it is, but I can't get her out of my head.
Pisces and Scorpio are sitting nearby, talking in low voices. Pisces is dreamy, almost otherworldly, and Scorpio-well, he has this dark, intense vibe that everyone seems to notice. Pisces seems completely comfortable around him, though, even with his sharp edges. They're close, maybe even closer than they realize, like they have some unspoken understanding.
And then there's Mini, off in a quiet corner, lost in her own world. She's always by herself, and it's a little strange considering how social everyone else is. But she doesn't seem to mind. Maybe she prefers it that way, just like I do.
I glance around once more, taking in the scene.
I watch as Sagittarius gets up from her seat and makes her way toward the kitchen. She moves with this effortless kind of energy, like she's never in one place for too long, and for some reason, I find myself following her. Maybe I just want to see if she'll do something interesting, or maybe... well, I don't know why, honestly.
When I reach the kitchen, she's already standing in front of the fridge, leaning in as she surveys the shelves. She doesn't seem to notice me at first, but when I stop just beside her, she glances over, raising an eyebrow like she's amused to see me there.
"Looking for something?" I ask, keeping my voice casual, though I can feel my heart picking up speed a bit. I don't usually feel like this around people, and it's strange.
"Just something to pass the time," she says, flashing me a smirk. "Unless you've got a better idea?"
The words make me chuckle, though I try to keep it low. I wasn't expecting her to throw that back at me, and I have to admit, it's kind of... charming. "Not sure anything here is that exciting," I reply, crossing my arms as I lean against the fridge door. It's a flimsy answer, but she doesn't seem to mind. In fact, she just grins wider.
She grabs a can of soda, cracks it open, and takes a sip. Then, without warning, she holds it out toward me, offering it with this casual kind of confidence. Our fingers brush for a second when I take the can, and I feel an unexpected spark. I know it's probably nothing, but it's like this fleeting, electric moment that's over before I can even process it.
I take a sip, feeling her eyes on me as I do. "Not bad," I say, handing it back, my voice quieter than usual. She grins, but there's something softer in her eyes too, like maybe she noticed that spark, or maybe she just enjoys watching me try to keep my cool.
"Guess there's hope for you yet, Aquarius," she teases, her tone playful as she takes another sip from the can.
I shrug, but I can't help the small smile that creeps up, even though I'm trying to keep my expression neutral. "Guess we'll see," I reply, meeting her gaze for a second longer than I'd planned.
The moment stretches out, just long enough for me to feel a little unsettled. But then she laughs, breaking the tension, and heads back to the common room, glancing over her shoulder at me with that same confident smirk.
As I watch her go,
