Sinful Secrets by Rye_Bread

Thomas lifted his hand to knock, hesitating a moment. The familiar green door greeted him as he debated should he actually do it. Nodding to himself, he pressed his knuckle to the wood, rapping on it repeatedly. It was silent for a moment, and he tapped his feet against concrete steps in nervousness. What if she didn't let him in? That thought alone discouraged him.

The door swung open.

In front of him stood Priya, long hair pulled back into a ponytail, eyes hidden beneath her bangs. Hands on hips, she narrowed her eyes at him, eyes that would once look at him as if he was her world. He scanned over her clothes, noticing she wore his sweatshirt. He gave it too her on the one day they decided to go to a school sponsored football game. The team sucked because their egos clashed more than their defense, but it was one of the best nights the unsocial boy could remember.

It was the night Priya told Thomas she loved him.

"What do you want?" she questioned, crossing her arms when she saw him studying what she wore.

You

"My phone. You took it when you stormed off a couple days ago," he answered.

Rolling her eyes, she closed her door to grab the phone, the device sitting on the edge of the dining room table. She had spent hours trying to unlock it, just to understand what went on in his head, but gave up after her failed trials.

"Here," Priya said, handing him his phone as she opened the door. She avoided brushing her fingers with his, even though his skin had touched more than her hand. Her brown eyes wouldn't meet his, and she would shift uncomfortably under his gaze.

"Can I ask you something?" Thomas questioned, eyes pleading. Glancing up at him, she frowned.

"What?" she huffed, plopping down in her steps, knowing that he wouldn't give up until they had a conversation.

It was almost their roles had reversed from years ago. She was the "nerd" girl in need of her partner for a project, and he was the imbecile she was matched up with. After much persistence on her part, they finally admitted their feelings for one another, and dated ever since. At least, until recently.

"Why did you break up with me?" he asked, but he already knew the answer. He just didn't want to believe that the person he loved wouldn't accept him as he was.

"You know why. I can't live halfway," Priya stated, staring straight in front of her. It was late evening, and the sky was turning from its usual blue to a hazy orange. She tried not to think of all the times Thomas would climb up to her roof with her, for her, even though he was afraid of heights, and watch the sunset.

"Okay," he said, staring ahead of him also. He didn't want what had just happened to be real. He wanted it to be okay, easy like it used to be. Standing, he brushed off his jeans and stuck his phone in his pocket.

"Well, at least I was right about something," he continued, a bitter chuckle escaping his mouth. Looking at him curiously, Priya watched as he ran a hand through his hair. She remembered how she would do it, and he would be at the edge of consciousness when she stopped. How he would then struggle to stay awake by telling her random things in a language she couldn't understand. How he would attempt to braid her hair, and get it knotted or too loose.

"Nothing good ever lasts. See you around."

Thomas brushed his lips against the person he had pressed up against in the bathroom stall. Their blood shot eyes, similar to his own, pierced his. Running a hand through their short hair, he kissed up their neck, avoiding the place he wanted to place his lips the most. They groaned, voice humming against his chest. Smiling against their skin, he moved lower and slipped his hands beneath their shirt.

Everything he was doing felt new, illegal. It probably was somewhere, but at that moment he didn't care. Moving a hand up their stomach and tangling another in their red hair, he trailed up to their ear.

"Want to get out of here?"

"Yeah."
