My eyes blinked open, and I looked around the room. Lila was next to me on the bed, fast asleep. I sat up quickly, and rubbed my eyes, stretching.

Searching for my phone, I pulled it from under the duvet and checked the time. It read 2:38, and my throat was super dry. I sighed, swinging my legs to the side of the bed, and standing up.

I staggered my way through the darkness to the door, and quickly opened it. As I made my way to the kitchen, I felt my way around the dark house, trying not to trip over shoes, cat toys, or any miscellaneous objects that littered their floor.

When I found the kitchen light switch, I slowly turned it on, not wanting to wake up the whole house. I fumbled to grab a glass, and filled it up with water from their fridge. Lila and Caleb obviously had a fancy fridge with a water dispenser.

As I sipped my cup, I heard sudden footsteps, and froze in my tracks. I really tried hard not to wake anybody up. As the person appeared from the darkness, I squinted to make out who it was.

It was.. Caleb?! I didn't know what he was doing up, and I opened my mouth to speak when I suddenly remembered him calling me a friend after our moment together. I glared, setting the cup down.

"What?" I whispered, as he was standing there, looking at me intensely.

"Sophia, I– I just-" Suddenly, out of nowhere, Caleb rushed towards me, drawing me in. He pulled me in tightly, and began kissing me. My eyes widened, but I didn't pull away. I had wanted this so bad and I couldn't believe what was happening. I placed my hands flat against the counter as he held my face in his hands. I shut my eyes, kissing back. Suddenly, he sharply pulled back, his eyes wide.

"Oh my god. I am so sorry Sophia. I don't know what came over me." He gasped, putting a hand over his mouth.

"Caleb, no. You don't know how bad I've been wanting this." I responded, and pulled him back in to continue kissing me. He cupped his hands around my waist, and we continued kissing. My heart raced as I tried to process everything. He kissed me, I kissed him back.

Caleb Jones, the boy I had grown up with, my first crush, my first enemy, was making out with me in his kitchen, in the pitch black, at 2:38 in the morning. We kept kissing, not giving each other a chance to breathe.

Suddenly, we heard the floor creaking, and pulled away, whipping our heads around to look. Even though we stopped kissing, our bodies were still pressed together, his hands on my waist and my arms resting on his shoulders. My heart raced as I saw somebody emerge from the shadows.

Mateo suddenly entered, rubbing his eyes. He was obviously exhausted, staring at the ground. He didn't even notice us at first, so we quickly pulled away from each other, pretending to do our own thing.

"Hey...It's fancy seeing you guys here," Mateo chuckled softly, the tiredness present in his voice.

"Oh.. yup!" I cheerfully responded. I gave Caleb a look out of the corner of my eye, and he smiled at me. I slipped away from the kitchen, and back into Lila's room. As I sneaked back into bed, pulled the covers over me, my heart was racing extremely fast.

My new found relationship with Caleb was confusing. How can somebody go from hating me, to making out with me in the darkness in less than a week? I tried not to think about it, squeezing my eyes shut in hopes to fall asleep.

Suddenly, I felt somebody shaking me. I rolled over, looking up at Caleb, practically dragging me out of bed. I silently rolled out of bed, stumbling as he pulled me through the dark room. My heart started racing as we made our way out of Lila's room, and to the hallway of the apartment buildning. As he quietly shut the door, he placed his hands on my shoulders, and we locked eyes for a few seconds. It felt like the whole world stood still for a second, and it was just us in that moment. He took a deep breath, and broke the silence.

"Can we talk about what happened? I know it ended awkwardly." He asked quietly with urgency in his eyes. I took a deep breath, and nodded.

"I think we need to," I responded softly. "There's a lot we need to clear up." Caleb nodded, relief washing over his face.

"I don't know what came over me, and I know this is so sudden. I understand if you don't feel the same way and it was just in the moment for you, but I felt I had to do it. I've been trying to pretend I don't feel a certain way for you, but it's so hard. Ever since I drove you home, I just can't get you off my mind. Just know I understand if-" I quickly cut him off, rushing into his arms and kissing him. He stumbled back a bit shocked, but quickly relaxed and let the kiss happen. I pulled away, smilling up at him.

"I do feel the same way, and I have been. I didn't know what I was feeling, but I realized how much I liked you." I softly responded, smiling warmly. As I was still in his arms, he hugged me tightly, rubbing my back. I nestled my head into his shoulder as he held me.

"I'm so sorry about my rudeness. I've always loved you and... I had to find a way to fake it, but it was exhausting." He confessed quickly, and I tore away from him, looking up at him with a shocked look on my face.

"No way...really?" I laughed, smiling. He nodded, smiling back at me.

"Always have." He added. As we stood there smiling at each other, we slowly moved into eachother, and began kissing again. As we kissed, I could feel the passion and hunger between us. Each kiss was more intense than the one before.

Caleb had his hands cupped on my waist, while I held his face. Everything around us disappeared, and it was just us at that moment. I could feel my heart beating faster as our kisses got more intense, our breath becoming heavier.

He stumbled forwards, which caused my back to press against the wall. Our heads moved as we kissed each other in an almost synced motion, and I felt his hands begin to slide up my body. My heart dropped though. I got flashbacks to the car, with party guy, when I realized he was just using me.

Without breaking the kiss, I removed my hands from his face and rested them on top of his, sliding them back down. He pulled away, giving me a questioning look.

"What's wrong?" He questioned, tilting his head to the side. My mouth fell open, stuck on my words. I had known him my whole life, and I didn't want him to think I didn't trust him, or thought I was using him.

"I'm sorry. All my past moments like this haven't ended well when uhm... y'know. One thing leads to another." I quietly responded, looking down. Suddenly, he grabbed my chin, softly kissing my lips. We stayed like that for a few seconds, when he pulled away.

"Sophia, I would never, ever use you. I really like you. Genuinely. And if you aren't ready, that's that. Do you want to go inside now?" He answered softly, comforting me. I felt my cheeks heat up when he said that.

No boy has ever talked to me like that before. I stared at him for a moment, my heart pounding in my chest. His words were soft, genuine—nothing like the careless lines I had heard before. I bit my lip, trying to hide the smile creeping onto my face.

"Yeah," I whispered, my voice barely above a breath. "Let's go inside." He nodded at me, smiling back and we entered. As we stepped through the door, I could still feel the heat of his gaze on me, and every brush of his hand against mine sent shivers down my spine.

I felt his hand softly grab mine, and our fingers intertwined. He took me to his room, and led me to lay down with him. He drew me in close, kissing me on the forehead. There was a safety in the way he held me, like he wasn't rushing, wasn't expecting anything more than what I was willing to give. And that scared me a little bit—but in a good way. A way I hadn't felt before. As I slowly drifted off to sleep, I could feel my heart surging, in a way I had never felt before.
