My head throbbed as I opened my eyes. I analyzed my room, looking around. Amara had already left, her unmade bed empty, and backpack gone.

I groaned, and reshut my eyes, trying to get some more rest. When I came to the realiziation it was morning, my eyes shot back open as I realized I didn't know the time.

I looked over at my alarm clock, realizing it was already 10:30, and I was late for class.

"Shoot!" I yelled out, quickly springing out of bed. I had a really bad taste in my mouth, and was still wearing my clothes from the night before.

I changed into sweatpants and a t-shirt as fast as I could, and slipped on my crocs. I packed my backpack quickly, running out of my dorm.

I had perfectly planned out this moment for 4 years in my head, and it was not turning out the way I wanted it to be.

My perfect first day consisted of getting to class early with a proper outfit, listening carefully, and making a good impression on the teacher. None of the boxes were checked on what I wanted for my first day. I was running super late, as the class started at 11 and I was halfway across campus, I was wearing ratty sweats and an old t-shirt, and the teacher would definitely hate me when I showed up late to class.

As I approached the classroom, I burst through the doors to a full class, who all turned to look at me.

"Excuse me, but who are you?" The professor asked, staring at me with a stern glare.

"I'm Sophia. I'm so sorry I'm late." I gasped, panting for breath. I was winded from sprinting all the way here.

"Okay young lady, just take a seat. Don't let it happen again." The professor turned to face the board, and kept teaching.

I scanned the classroom for an empty seat, and groaned when I saw the only free one. It was next to Sam, the guy who kissed me against my will. And quite frankly, he's a very bad kisser. And now that I'm sober, he isn't even that cute.

I dragged my feet as I made my way to the chair, and collapsed down into my seat. I avoided all eye contact from him.

"Um, Sophia? Is that you?" I heard him ask.

"Nope. Wrong girl." I mumbled as I stared straight ahead.

"I know it's you. You literally just announced your name." He scoffed, "Y'know, it's one thing to not be interested, but it's another to completely ghost someone after making out with them." My head whipped around to stare at him, and I looked at him as if he were crazy.

"Woah woah woah! Making out? What the hell? You literally had to tightly hold me to kiss me. I could tell the dean that you forced yourself on me." I wasn't actually going to tell the dean, though. But blackmail is always an option.

"No, please! I could lose my scholarship!" He begged.

"Umm.. I won't tell the dean if you switch seats with.." I scanned the classroom, and spotted Lila. "If you switch seats with her and bring her over here, I won't tell. Deal?"

"Deal!" He immediately shouted, jumping up. He gathered his things, and rushed over to where Lila was sitting. I watched them having a conversation, and Lila getting up and walking over to me.

"Hey girl!" She whispered, sitting next to me, "How did you convince him to move?" She giggled.

"Uhm.. I'm not going to mention that. It's a long story, and I'll tell you later. Let's just be happy it happened." I smiled, facing my attention back to the board.

The professor continued teaching, and I grabbed my notebook out of my backpack, flipping to the first page. I started writing down notes. As I wrote, I began to zone out.
