The next morning Elizabeth waited at the old oak tree where they had first met.

She waited there and walked up and down until she heard horses trampling and then Edward came riding up on his white horse.

He stopped in front of Elizabeth and got off his horse to greet her. "I knew you were coming," said Edward.

"I can't stay long," replied Elizabeth. Edward walked up to Elizabeth and stopped in front of her.

"Untie your hair, I want to see it," said Edward to Elizabeth, who immediately took out a hairpin. Edward moved closer and took the pin in his hand and put the other in her hair.

"I'm burning with desire. I've been thinking about you all day," said Edward whispering in Elizabeth's ear. "Wouldn't it be better if you thought about the battle?" Elizabeth asked Edward with a smile on his face.

Edward then took off his coat and laid it on the ground and sat down on it. "Sit next to me," said Edward and held out his hand. Elizabeth did as he asked, took his hand and sat down.

Edward ran his hands to Elizabeth's neck and kissed it. "Edward, I" then Elizabeth was interrupted by Edward kissing her.

He slowly laid her on his coat and pushed her skirt up while he was still kissing her. "Elizabeth" said Edward. "No, no I can't" Edward kissed her again. "I say no and I mean it" Elizabeth said to Edward.

"You came to me" said Edward. "To say goodbye" Elizabeth replied to Edward. Elizabeth stood up and was about to leave when Edward stopped her. "No, don't go" Edward said to her.

Elizabeth turned and looked at Edward. "Good God Elizabeth, I must have you" Edward said and brushed the hair out of her face.

"I'm desperate for you" he said and kissed Elizabeth. And pulled her skirt back up. "No, no, I said no, no, no" Elizabeth kept saying, hoping Edward would stop.

When Elizabeth suddenly pulled a dagger out from under her skirt and pointed it at Edward. "You are pointing the dagger at me. Against your king, that is treason," said Edward.

"I am pointing it at myself," said Elizabeth and held the dagger against her neck. "Take one step towards me and I will slit my throat and die."

"You are only playing," said Edward to Elizabeth, who still did not take the dagger down.

"I am sorry if I have tricked you by coming here. But I will never be your mistress," said Elizabeth in a firm voice. "In just a second I will take the dagger away from you," said Edward in response.

"Not before I have slit my throat," said Elizabeth and pressed the dagger harder against her neck so that it bleeds slightly. "Stop!" said Edward in a loud voice and held out his hand.

"Do not doubt my courage, your Grace. I will take on any man," she said. Edward looked down. "Now I understand," he said. And took off his belt, which was made of gold. And laid it down in front of Elizabeth.

"Keep it as a pledge" said Edward and went back to his horse. "Wait, your grace" said Elizabeth to stop Edward.

"You have kept me as a pawn, you may congratulate yourself. You will never see me again" said Edward and took the reins of a horse in his hand, mounted and rode away.

Elizabeth was now alone again and held the dagger of disuse at her neck. She fell to her knees and wept for it.

Elizabeth now sat on her sons' bed and thought about her time with Edward. How they saw each other for the first time. The kisses they shared. Her mother came in and Elizabeth quickly hid the belt under a pillow.
