My Favourite Versus Matchups

Fear Herself vs Malak (Multiverse Tales vs Dark Deception)

Connections: Both are demonic lords of their own realms controlling several demonic monsters each based on a negative trait of a person (Fear's demons are mainly based off of phobias and Malak's monsters are based on bad things Doug either said or did to his family), both also utilise the main protagonists fighting against them to get what they want (Fear uses Mara to kill the Reaper allowing her to summon the Archon demons and Malak uses Doug to allow him to gain access to Bierce's realm)

Contrast: Fear is a somewhat tragic character with her motivations spurred on by how she believes if someone is unable to face a fear that they have which is hindering them from fully enjoying life then they don't deserve to keep living with her backstory being how she just wanted to help people but her mother kept pushing her to do more until she just snapped, while Malak is just a dickhead.

Fear Herself was a tricky person to find a matchup for her that I liked enough since many of her opponents were just either commanders of demon armies or people who like scaring others, watching some Dark Deception walkthrough videos mainly on Chapter 4 it clicked in my head and now I got a Fear matchup that I like, and if your curious other matchups for Fear I thought about were Davoth from Doom Eternal which is honestly more of a s*** stomp than Master Chief vs DoomSlayer just without as good animation potential and Freddy Krueger which has the same problems as Davoth but with the added problem that I much prefer Pennywise for Freddy, as for Malak's other opponents I have heard of Spooky from Spooky's house of jump scares which from what I've been told sounds fun, however, my lack of knowledge on Spooky means I'm not 100% on it besides the stuff mentioned there can happen with this matchup so it doesn't matter.

As for the fight itself I could imagine it starting with Malak arriving in Fear's dimension having finally escaped his realm only to be confronted by the demon queen and after some back and forth Fear puts together Malak's genocidal intentions and so says that he will unfortunately be going no further due to Malak being the antithesis of Fear's face your fears motive as seen in an episode of MVT where she confronted one of the Archon Demons about that after he was just killing people without giving them a chance and I think it'd be kinda funny if Fear were to open one of her black portals under Malak which sent him into Backcells only for Malak to pop back after which leads to Fear doing it a couple more times before figuring she'll have to do it the more physical way and summons some demons to tear Malak apart, only for Malak to open some portals and call in some of the monsters from Dark Deception which leads to an army battle where there can be some cool things here there could be a scene where the cryophobia demon makes an ice wall only for Hangry the Pig to smash it down, there could be a moment where one of the ducks gets into a duck fight with the duck phobia demon, there could be a moment where Agatha finds the doll phobia demon and begins playing with it only for the doll to attack her, there can be a lot stuff happening, which can serve as the background for the main fight between Fear and Malak where some cool things can happen here too, there could be a moment where Malak uses super speed to blitz Fear and smack her around before she manages to grab him with one of tentacles and ensnares him completely only to use the shockwave power to escape, there could be a moment where Malak turns invisible and tries to sneak attack Fear however Fear uses her Overseer vision to see Malak's soul energy and strike him out of it, there could be a moment where Fear summons more demons and tells Malak he's outnumbered only for Malak to simply snap his fingers and another portal opens where the massive army of Joy Joy animatronics lead by the Joykill come out, there could be a moment where Fear has a giant dinosaur head chomp the s*** out of Malak only for him to get up and complain that she got his suit wet with slobber before blasting her with fire, there could even be a moment where Malak summons the giant Goldwatcher and Fear summons one of the Godzilla demons and they fight while Fear and Malak are moving around both titans. But one thing I want the most is something that was mentioned in the pitch for Malak vs Spooky and that is to have Malak enter Fear's mind and forces her to relieve her backstory which if any of you have seen the episode Fear Isn't Enough its basically like that episode only instead of Psychoperdilitcht its Malak and throughout it all Malak is just s*** talking her the whole way and mocking her on how the big bad demon queen is nothing but a scared little brat who just wanted mommy's approval all the while Fear falls into despair which would lead to the ending of the fight depending on who wins, if Malak wins Fear would be completely trapped in her despair allowing Malak to brutally finish her off saying how her pain is now over in a very condescending manner, if Fear wins however, as she is falling into despair her despair soon turns into anger and as Malak finishes taunting her she screams breaking out of Malak's mental manipulation through sheer power with Malak being genuinely shocked at this and here Fear just starts beating Malak senseless not giving him a second to breathe the moment she hit him once she hits him again before beginning to kill Malak in such a violent way that even Malak's own forces are scared and as Malak is on the brink of death he looks into Fear's rageful eyes and shows genuine fear for the first time, cause Fear's angry expression to switch to one of psychotic satisfaction before she finishes Malak off and then orders her demons to slaughter what remains of Malak's army as we see her look of satisfaction slowly fade into one of slight dread showing that despite killing him Malak's actions have still left a special scar on her already scarred psyche.

As for who wins, for now, I got Fear taking it more times than not, since right now all we can say for Malak's stats is that he's above the giant Gold Watcher's GPE which is large building level but even some of Fear's lesser demons are city block level and not to mention Fear Herself.... herself has fought and matched the likes of Unkillable Kate and Mara the latter of whom has scaling to country to even multi continent to small planet level due to upscaling the Godzilla demon surviving the Oxygen Destroyer which should have the same power output of its OG counterpart, now Malak can get up to moon level assuming he's the one creating the realms where the monsters are with the Gold Watchers domain having a moon but again Fear can get up to small planet level, though its not like Malak is completely outmatched, both do upscale from laser dodgers, both have similar endurance with both being pretty much unfazed after getting stabbed by a buster sword for Fear's case and crystals for Malak's case, Malak has more versatility in his abilities and Malak has a potential win con in shattering Fear's soul to create soul shards, however, while souls do exist in MVT it's weird, essentially souls in MVT are called Soul Energy which is what makes up a being in the multiverse with Overseers being able to manipulate the soul energy to make entirely new creatures and being, they are also simply shells that are housed in a body via a beacon they follow and its all just pretty complicated, bottom line, with how weird the concept of souls are in MVT I'm not sure they would be similar enough to souls in Dark Deception for Malak to shatter them, and even if they were Malak would still need to be fast enough to pull it off and not only does Fear have scaling to some higher FTL feats but she can also take energy from two shards of the Multiversal Orb to make herself stronger and faster with said power boost allowing her to be able to restrain Unkillable Kate to being able to throw hands with Mara who has help from other Sharp Gang members and she can do this even if both shards are in completely separate dimensions too meaning at any point Fear could just make herself significantly stronger and faster than Malak whenever she pleases. TL;DR Fear has the stat advantage and can get off the killing blow first before Malak can use his hax. But I do say for now as Chapter 5 of Dark Deception hasn't come out yet so for all I know Malak could get some star to even universal metas in that chapter, we'll have to wait and see.

Overall, this matchup has the potential to be a grand fight with a just enough of a horror theme to make it the perfect halloween episode plus the scene in Fear's head with her backstory can be the perfect tragic moment to either follow up with more tragedy if Malak wins or victory if Fear wins.
