The rhythmic clopping of hooves was the only sound that filled the air as they traveled. Apsara, Vasuda, Yohan, Jiayi, and Maya were seated silently in the back of a massive carrier, a wooden contraption fitted behind the horse of the leader of the troop. It's something used to carry goods, but now occupied only by five bewildered souls. The soldiers, their expressions unreadable, rode in front, their armor gleaming under the midday sun, their horses trotting in perfect unison.
The carrier swayed gently as it moved, its large wheels grinding against the dirt path. Despite the motion, Apsara couldn't shake the stillness in her chest. Her thoughts were a whirlwind, a chaotic mix of disbelief and fear. The silence was deafening, each of them lost in their own thoughts as they tried to process the events of the last few hours.
It felt as though they were in another world entirely-a time before their own, before everything they had known. They had traveled, unknowingly, back to an age where history was still unfolding. The words of the soldier echoed in Apsara's mind: the 3212th celestial year of the Dwapara Yuga. An era so ancient, it was beyond her comprehension.
She glanced around at her friends, all of them just as stunned as she was. They hadn't said a word since their conversation with the soldier. Yohan stared out of the carrier, his eyes distant, his expression unreadable. Vasuda's brow was furrowed, his fingers absently tracing the edge of his cloak. Jiayi's lips were pressed into a tight line, and Maya sat with her arms crossed, her gaze shifting from one soldier to the next as if expecting them to say something, anything.
The weight of the moment hung over them like a thick fog, each of them too stunned to speak.
Apsara was the first to break the silence, her voice barely a whisper. "How... how did this happen?" Her words were almost an afterthought, more to herself than to anyone else.
Vasuda met her gaze, his eyes tired. "The incantation... it was supposed to take us to the right time. To stop Kali's reign before it started. But instead... we ended up here." His voice was thick with frustration, as though he, too, couldn't fully comprehend how everything had gone so wrong.
"I still can't believe it," Maya muttered, shaking her head.
Yohan, who had been silent up until now, let out a slow breath.
"That guy right there, he is Arjun? I just can't believe it though."
"Well judging by his physique and beauty, I believe it..."
Maya said with a sheepish smile.
Jiayi looked at her, a skeptical expression on her face. "What are you saying? We're in the middle of a story that hasn't even been told yet?"Yohan nodded slowly. "Exactly. The Kuru dynasty... the wars, the alliances, the betrayals... it all starts here. This is the foundation, the beginning of it all."
"What do we do now?" Maya's voice broke through the thoughts, her question hanging in the air like a heavy weight.
Apsara met her gaze, her lips pressed into a tight line. "I don't know. But we need answers. We can't just sit here and wait for something to happen. We need to figure out how to get back."
"You guys okay back there?"
Arjun, asked them.
"Yep! absolutely great."
Yohan replied back with an annoyed face."That guy is really Arjun, The Arjun!!!!"
No one replied to his statement, because nobody had any answer.
"It's like we are on a sci-fi movie!"
Still he got no relpy from anyone, he knew he should shut up until the topic is changed.
"I'll take you guys to the palace, you will be given shelter there."
Arjun said making them all more scared....
Thoughts rushed in Apsara's mind
If the people finds out she is an Asura born, they will all be sentenced to death!
She had to come up with some lie.
"Guys, we need a story!"
"What?"
Vasuda furrowed his brows, trying to comprehend what she meant.
"Maya, Vasuda and I are Asuras, demons to the people of this time. Jiayi is chinese, they will call her a mleccha! And Yohan will be worshiped, if they come to know he is the prince of the Naga clan. We need to hide our identities.....so- we need a story!"
Apsara anxiously said.
"But we already told Arjun that we are time travellers from Kali Yuga..."
Yohan exclaimed angrily.
"Well, did I tell you to speak too much?"
Apsara scolded him,
"Let's say half the truth,"
Everybody's attention went to Jiayi, ever the clever one.
"Let's tell we are the rebels against the Asura Kali, we time travelled to kill him off when he was born, but instead we got pushed away in this place...... and let's act like normal humans with no inhuman powers or anything, so no spiritual powers allowed until necessity."
The rest hessitantly nodded at the Dragon's order.---
