This fanfiction is loosely based on the epic Mahabharata and I don't own the epic or it's characters (obviously). story is set in an AU where Karna never lied to his teacher and the proper tutelage under Bhagwan Parshuram helped him get over the urge to prove himself to anyone. And thus the Karna in this story happens to not participate in the Kalapradarshan (duel between the princes of Kuru) and chose an entirely different path in his life. let's see what if the Eldest Kauntey and his brothers get to know eachother and about his Birth secret just before the Kurukshetra was about to break out. Arjuna's triumph as Brihannala never gets the attention it deserves. The fear stricken Uttar kumar here later transitions into a brave warrior who gives his life for the Pandavas at Kurkshetra. It is at Matsya, when the kauravas attack, that Uttar witnesses the might of Jishnu first hand. So terrible is Arjuna's wrath in battle that Uttar is dazed and astounded as he attempts to keep pace with the speed and force of Arjun's attack. This is a dramatized recounting based on Shri Kisari Mohan Ganguli's translation of Vyasa's Mahabharatha. I posted this on my Substack account and now am posting it here.

Did Bhishma really forbid Karna from fighting under him or was it Karna who refused? Whose decision left Duryodhana without his most trusted warrior and best friend in the most critical war of his life?

Duryodhana never started a war until he had all confidence that he can win. What was the reason for that? He felt he had two things. One the numbers - more than 50% strength in army. Two the warriors - more than enough to match Pandava warriors. HOW? Let us look at what lead to Duryodhana's over confidence and down fall..

Yuyutsu - Son of Kuru King Dhritharashtra and a maid of Gandhaari called Sukhada. Yuyutsu never was respected even though he was same age as Duryodhana. Yuyutsu and Vikarna were the two who never agreed or like the evil ways of Duryodhana. Like Vibhishana of Ramayana who disagreed and disliked Ravana's evil ways. Like Vibhishana he abandoned his evil brother during the Kurukshetra war. He was one of the few who chose dharma over relationship and various pretexts.

Adiratha, adoptive father of Karna is often portrayed as a POOR charioteer in TV shows and many books too. What he IS, is Anga's royal prince.

The Mahabharatha - a re-telling

Vikarna one of the 99 brothers of Duryodhana the sons of Gandhari and Dritharashtra. He was the equivalent of Ramayana Kumbhakarna, a maharathi - one who commands the master chariot. Who was only one of 11 such in Kaurava army , so definitely he was a great warrior. But what sets him apart - just like Kumbhakarna he tells his brother that he is doing adharma, injustice, immoral and wrong. But still dies for his brother. A short story of Vikarna the warrior and just human the Kaurava who made Bhima's heart melt...
