He arrived at the bank and immediately set about asking for Jacobin, he was ushered into an office where a big bald man was sitting in a chair, laughing heartily as he munched on a donut with unboxing videos on his computer. Privet grimaced as sprinkles flew out of his mouth with every laugh.
"Sir, may I ask you a few questions?" Privet asked.
"Fire away," the man said, apathetically.
"Where were you on the day of the CEO party?"
"Oh, I got stuck in my chair, so I couldn't go," He said as he shoved another donut in his mouth.
Privet looked out through the door at the secretary, who nodded vacantly.
"Well, thank you for your time," a disgusted Privet said, as he quickly strode out of the room, crossing off Jacobin's name as he went, the man seemed jovial enough, but certainly not smart enough to kill someone. That left only Sprite, Privet did not want to accuse her but she was the only suspect. On his way home, he got a text from his client, "I found this note, I was snooping around in Josh's house and found a letter addressed to someone named Saundra, the author said something about knowing them since high school and wanting more out of their relationship, it also said "I do this for us", does that help at all?"
"More than you know," and with that, Privet hung up.
He immediately set out back to Sprite's office, when he got there, he didn't wait for the secretary's protests that Sprite did not want to be seen, he went straight to the elevator. As he burst into the room, he found Saundra and Sprite staring longingly into each other's eyes, they hadn't noticed him. As they suddenly kissed with passion, Privet felt bad about what he was about to do. But he knew it must be done, so he quickly sent a message to the police and coughed loudly to alert the two women of his presence.
They broke away with a start, "WhAt are you doing here?!?" they both shouted at him.
"Saundra, get away from the killer"
Saundra hesitated, then looked towards Sprite, who was boring holes into Privet with her eyes.
"Is this true?" Saundra chokes out.
"She killed Josh Clark, in hopes of somehow getting a cut of the company, when that fell through, she began to plan on killing Josh's son, that last part is more of a speculation, but she did it so she could use the money to make you happy, Saundra," Privet spews flatly.
Saundra backs away from Sprite, wide eyes filled with betrayal, "How...could you?"
"I did it because he didn't deserve the money! You do! I wish to give the world to you, don't you see?!? Greedy men need nothing when there are perfect people like you wandering around. I would have given it all to you, and I still can, if you help me take this man down, then we can deal with Clark's son, and we'll have it all, Perry Liams said he'd help us get the money turned over to us once we killed the son, he won't help kill, honor code or something, but it can happen!"
"I don't know what I saw in you, you're a monster. You've changed."
"Saundra-"
Just then the police spilled into the office and moved to put handcuffs on Sprite, but before they could, Sprite gave one last heartbreaking look at Saundra, who gasped, then Sprite turned and flung herself out the window. Saundra lets out the most gut-wrenching cry ever heard by human ears, and Privet has to stop her from following. He knew it was for the best; she would have been given the death sentence for first-degree murder anyway, still, he was sad that this was how it had to end.
It seemed the weather caught on, because as Saundra wept, Privet keeping a tight hold on her, it began raining. The police and some paramedics collected the body, and other officers went and arrested Liams for conspiring with a criminal, he'd be in jail for a while. A funeral was held for Sprite a week later. Saundra and Privet both showed. As grim as this case had been, it was over now. Saundra did end up forgiving Privet, and he began to mentor her, as she wasn't a very professional detective, even if she wouldn't admit it out loud, Privet agreed and signed her on as his assistant. He also called his client to get paid and went home to mull over the case and await his next one.
