Privet immediately set about crossing off names and, surprisingly, only a few people didn't show, maybe four or five. Privet thought this was odd, surely more people would stay home, either for work or just out of spite for the new CEO. The event was important enough, but there were too many people on the list for so few people to not show up, Privet would have expected the possibility of more not being there to be pretty high. He still wrote down the names of the people on the list with the X's, taking the time to find out more information about each one.
Mr. Andrew Jacobin- A banker, age 33. Married with no children.
Ms. Camelia Sprite- Writer, age 22. Single.
Mrs. Lola Clementine- At-home mother, age 26. Married with 2 kids; Laura (age 6) and Jenny (age 4).
And Mr. Perry Liams- Lawyer, age 45, married with three children. (Sam 20, Kylie 17, and George 15.)
Also, Mr. Josh Clark-Lawyer, owner of Clark law firm, is dead, he's dead, he's been dead, he was the victim, Idk why he was on the list but he's dead.
Privet decided to go talk to the doctor who pronounced Josh dead. On his way to the hospital, he stopped by his client's house to tell her what he learned, she thanked him and he continued to the hospital. When he got there, he asked the lady at the desk how he would go about finding out how someone died. She said to go look at the morgue you bumbling fool. Privet was kind of annoyed but decided to go try what she said. At the morgue they told him Josh had died of poison in his sleep, they also said he had a puncture hole in his arm.
Deciding Josh was a dead end since there were no suspects, he decided to investigate Camelia Sprite because Sprite is the most suspicious drink. He found out where she worked, and headed there the following morning when he knew she would be in office. Irritatingly enough, who would he run into- literally run into, but Saundra, who had been running into the office too.
"Hey, would it kill you to look where you- oh it's you. Why are you here?"
Saundra ignored his tone and responded breezily "I'm following a lead." before walking away and closing the door in his face.
Private scoffed and opened the door, running to get the reception desk before she could in case she was after the same person he was. They both ran to the front desk to find the lady behind it watching them with a bored expression.
"I need to see Sprite!" Saundra yells before Privet can. The lady points down the hall and Saundra takes off. Privet looks up to see a sign above the hallway that Saundra had evidently failed to see. It read, "Vending machines this way."
"A fun little trick me and Miss Sprite likes to play when people don't say Ms, most never notice"
Privet turned back to a chuckling desk lady, "Well then may I see Ms. Sprite?"
"Take the elevator over there to the top floor, she'll be the last door right across from the elevator."
Privet thanks her and hops in the elevator, pushing the button for the 14th floor, the highest one. As the elevator rose, Privet wondered why, if Sprite was a writer, she got an office in what is normally a very important place in a building, and why a lot of people would come to her, as the lady at the front desk had implied. The elevator opened and Privet went to the door of Sprite's office and knocked on the door.
