I couldn't go to Scarlett's class like this, and I didn't want to. I went into the gym and the manager's office, and laid down on the couch. I could say it's my office since I'm always the only one in here. I tried to get it together after the bathroom breakdown, but I felt the same feeling creeping back in. I desperately needed Scarlett's comfort right now but she was part of the reason this was happening. I couldn't be trusted alone in this state. It's like the universe heard me because suddenly all of my players came into the office with what looked like...gifts.
"What is this guys? Shouldn't you guys be in class?" I asked as I raised an eyebrow.
"Well, yes, and we will go back but only after leaving these here. We will talk to you about this when we have practice, Sar. Ms. Biles got us from different classrooms to tell us that someone found you in the bathroom breaking down. She took some of us out of Ms. Fox's class too which she surprisingly allowed," Justin explained.
"Thank you guys, this wasn't necessary," I smiled.
They nodded and left to go back to class while I sat in the office and looked at the different gifts. Classes were almost over, so they had about 80 minutes to get these if Brittany pulled them out at the beginning of their classes. There were 14 boys on the team, and each of them paired up to get me seven gifts. I couldn't help but smile at the thought. The gifts were mostly flowers and gift cards for my favorite places, but there was one letter that was signed by the whole team.
Dear Sarah,
We just wanted to take a moment to let you know how much you mean to us. We know today has been one of those really tough ones, where it feels like everything that could go wrong, does. But even on the hardest days, you're the one who holds us all together, making sure we have what we need and keeping our team running strong.
It's easy to forget to tell you this when things are busy, but we all see how much effort you put in day in and day out. You're not just our manager; you're the heart of this team. From early mornings to late nights, you're there with us, making sure everyone is ready, everything is in place, and every detail is covered. Your dedication doesn't go unnoticed, and we're so grateful to have you by our side.
Please remember you're never alone in this. We've got your back, just like you always have ours. We're here for you, not just as a team but as your family. Take all the time you need to reset, and don't hesitate to lean on us if you need to.
Thanks for being you, Sarah. We're lucky to have you.
With all our support and gratitude,
Justin, Jay, Noah, Bryce, Konan, Luke, Jordan, Milan, CJ, Ethan, Jude, Jayce, Corey, and Rocky.
I almost cried when I read the letter. I love my team, no, my family so much. The bell rang signaling the end of classes, and I waited for them to come into the office. Once they did, I flashed them a wide smile.
"Thank you, all of you. I needed this so much today," I beamed looking at all of them.
"Always, Sarah. Why don't we all go out to eat tonight and we can talk?" Corey asked while the team nodded.
"Deal," I agreed as I stood up.

I blew the whistle, the sharp sound cutting through the noise in the gym. "Alright, everyone, bring it in!" My voice echoed a bit, bouncing off the high walls as the team jogged over, forming a loose circle around me. Sweat was already shining on their faces, their breaths coming quick from the last drill. Good—this was exactly where I wanted them, right on the edge, where practice turns into progress.
