Chapter 4.

August.

Today was the day I decided to go fly out to see Lani. It's been 2 weeks since I realized I actually like her and she been on my mind ever since. As I drove to the airport I called her, we talked and joked but when she asked me what I was doing I had to make something up. Me flying out to Oakland to see her was a surprise, even though I told I would be seeing her soon I'm sure she didn't know it would be this soon. By the time my flight lands it would be 12 o' clock in Oakland and I knew she would be performing where she always is. Once I boarded my flight all these thoughts started taking over my brain What if she not singing today? What if my flight is late? What if she got another nigga? I was so anxious and didn't even know why. I asked one of the flight attendants for a glass of Hennessey and was soon on my way to sleep.

Kehlani.

I packed my guitar up and put my money in my pocket. Edward couldn't show up today because he was sick and I was going to see him later. I decided not to buy shoes with the money I had saved instead I was going to buy studio time. It was a better decision and it would further my career.

After I had everything packed I was ready to get on my skateboard and go home, until I heard a very familiar voice.

"Aug!" I yelled as I turned around.

"Hey lah' mama." He leaned down hugging me.

I must admit I was surprised to see him because I thought when he said "soon" he meant a month or two and not two weeks.

"You shocked to see me huh?" He asked while I realized I was still hugging him.

"Yeah, so you just lied to me huh?"

"Yup I had ta' make up a lie, I couldn't tell you I was on my way to the airport to come see you."

"Well yeah that makes sense." I laughed softly.

"Besides I missed my lah' tsunami." He spoke as he picked me up and spun me around.

August.

"Augusttt stop." She screamed while still laughing.

"Aight fine." I put her down and looked at her, this girl was really beautiful.

"So where you goin' when you leave hea'."

"To go see my bestfriend, he has a cold."

"Well I guess I'a see you later." I said acting like I was gonna walk off.

"Boy where are you going? You coming with me."

"I'on know Lani. People get real protective ova' there bestfriends and start catching feelings and shit."

"Well I'm not like that."

"I wasn't talking about you." I said raising one eyebrow.

Kehlani.

The walk to Edward's house was fun. In between me riding my skateboard and letting Aug try to ride it, which didn't go well me and him just talked and joked around. He had told me about his brother Mel and how he was helping Chandra raise his three nieces.

When we got to Edward's house his mom answered the door. After Aug and I said hello she looked at him funny and told us Edward was in his room.

"Wassup big head." I said entering the room.

"Nothing much Nami." He said putting his empty bowl of soup down.

I noticed Aug standing awkwardly looking around and watching me and Edward talk.

"Oh this is my uhh- friend August, August this is Edward."

"Let me find out Nami got a lil boyfriend." He said laughing.

"Well she don't got one, yet." Aug interrupted.

After me, Eddie and August had sat and talked for a couple of hours Eddie asked Aug if he could talk to him, once Aug said yes I excused myself and went down to talk to Eddie's mom.

August.

"You like her don't you?"

"Excuse me?"

"You like Lani don't you?"

"Why?"

"I've seen the way you look at her when she talk, and how you smile when she laugh and how you looked at her when she walked away." He chuckled.

"Aight so maybe I do like ha' what dat gotta do with you?"

"I'm just tryna help you man, so if you want her go for it cause I know my bestfriend is beautiful and she got a lot of options."

"Aight thanks man I will."

Kehlani.

When me and Aug left Eddie's house he said he had something to talk to me about. Since I didn't know what Eddie said to him I was nervous.

After we had been walking for about 10 minutes, he stopped me. He tilted my chin so that I was looking up at him and before I knew it, he kissed me.

August.

"Kehlani, I know I haven't known you long but you really doing something to me. You ain't like no other girl I met before, you sweet, caring, fine as hell, and you laugh at all my corny ass jokes." I said as I grabbed her hands.

"So what I'm tryna say is will you make the happiest mu'fucka and be my girlfriend?"

"Yes August, damn I thought you would never ask." She said laughing making me look down at her and smile.

"Yes Aug?" She noticed me looking at her as I leaned down and kissed her again.

Things finally seem to be looking up for a nigga.
