As Peter and Sable walked further from the café, leaving Mary Jane's sobs behind, Peter felt an unexpected lightness in his chest. It was as if, with each step, he was shedding pieces of a burden he'd carried for too long. Confronting Mary Jane like that, saying those things he'd kept buried inside, it felt freeing. For so long, he had been weighed down by unresolved feelings, by memories of loss and betrayal, by a lingering ache that had gnawed at him for years. But now, after finally speaking his truth, he felt as if he'd unlocked a part of himself he hadn't realized was still trapped.

Beside him, Sable watched him closely, her gaze soft with admiration. She had been aware of Mary Jane's impact on Peter, the way memories of his past relationship haunted him like ghosts in his shadow. When she'd seen Mary Jane approach, she'd felt a rush of worry, fearing how it might shake him. But Peter had stood his ground, had spoken his mind with an unyielding resolve she couldn't help but admire. The Peter she saw today was no longer the man struggling to break free from his past; he was someone who had finally found his footing, someone who had chosen to live for himself.

A smile crept onto Sable's lips as she gave his hand a gentle squeeze. She was proud of him. She knew that facing Mary Jane wasn't easy, it was a confrontation with old wounds and memories, the kind that could leave anyone vulnerable. But Peter had done it with a strength she knew came from deep within him. She saw his growth, his newfound resilience, and felt a surge of pride for the man he had become.

Peter glanced at her, feeling the pressure of her gaze and the warmth of her hand in his. He smirked, letting out a quiet chuckle. "You know, I didn't expect it to feel this...liberating," he said, his voice low and contemplative. "It's like I finally cut a chain that I didn't even realize was still holding me down."

Sable's smile widened as she looked at him, her eyes sparkling with warmth. "You did more than that," she replied softly. "You reclaimed a part of yourself that was stolen. I'm proud of you, Peter. Truly."

He gave her hand a gentle squeeze, the gratitude in his eyes clear. "I think I finally understand what you meant, back when you told me that sometimes, in order to move forward, you have to make difficult decisions. God knows how long I've wanted to say those words to her." He took a deep breath, inhaling the fresh New York air as if it were his first breath in a long time. "For the first time in a long time...I feel like I'm actually living my life."

As Peter's words settled between them, Sable reached into her pocket and made a quick call in Symkarian, her tone calm yet assertive.

The limo pulled up smoothly in front of them, glistening under the streetlights. Sable's driver stepped out, opening the door with a respectful nod. Peter gave Sable a grin and a slight bow, gesturing for her to enter. She rolled her eyes, but her smile was fond as she slipped inside. Once she was settled, Peter joined her, shutting the door as they sank into the plush seats. The city lights blurred past as the car eased back into the flow of traffic.

After a few moments of silence, Sable looked over at him, a hint of seriousness in her expression. "So, are you certain you're done with her?"

Peter met her gaze with a smirk, a trace of amusement in his eyes. "After that, you doubt me, Sable?"

Sable tilted her head, her voice soft but firm. "Peter, I know you. I have no doubt there've been times when you told yourself you were done with her... only to go running back like a lost puppy that's been found. I just wanted to be sure you're not second-guessing yourself."

Peter leaned back, crossing his arms as he looked out at the passing streets. "Well, you don't have to worry. I'm done with my rebound girl."

Sable raised an eyebrow. "Rebound girl?"
