05 awkward

It was Friday and I was going to Lynn's house again to finish our project but she had baseball practice so I had to wait for her to finish. I took out my homework like I always do when I wait for Ethan when I saw him come up to me.

"Hey babe coach added an extra thirty minutes today because we had a big baseball game coming up soon so you might have to wait a while."

"Oh I'm actually going with Lynn today." I say as I examined the shocked look on his face when I suddenly saw Lynn walk past him.

"Don't be mad your girlfriend wants to hang out with me instead of you Ethan." She said while smirking and walking away.

I shook my head while laughing at Lynn's comment before looking back at Ethans unimpressed face.

"She was joking." I reassured him before I heard the coaches whistle signaling all the players to gather.

2 HOURS AND 30 MINUTES LATER

Ethan walked back to the bleachers and took his bag that was beside me then left without saying goodbye to me. I guess Lynn's joke got to him but I'm sure she was just kidding he can be like this sometimes.Lynn came up to me with her bag and water bottle, panting softly while sweat trickled down her forehead and neck with her pony tail all messed up.

"Let's go." She said trying not to pant.

It was already 8pm by the time we were half way through the bus ride Lynn just stared out the window while me on the other hand was trying not to fall asleep. I closed my eyes but couldn't control my head causing it to bop. I quickly jolted awake as Lynn chuckled softly.

"Passed you bed time?" She teased.

"funny." I said unamused with heavy eye lids.

I tried to stay awake for the next 5 minutes but soon fell into a deep slumber.

I felt a tap on my shoulder and regained consciousness realizing I fell asleep on Lynn's shoulder. I sat back up right slightly embarrassed while no longer feeling tired due to the embarrassment. I tapped my phone an saw 8:10 on my Lock Screen.

"Lynn it's a little late you still wanna do the project?" I asked.

"Well considering the fact you fell asleep on me I think we should do it another day." Lynn said trying to stifle a laugh. I hit her on the shoulder trying to get her to stop laughing causing her to laugh harder.

"It's not that funny lynn." I said before getting up to alight the bus.

We walked on the pathway to our houses when Lynn suddenly broke the silence.

"Remember that day you started crying because you had a crush on a girl?" Lynn asked.

Weird question.

"Yeah why?"

"Ever since then you were gay right?" She asked again.

I know where this is going.

"yes." I said bluntly trying to avoid eye contact.

"Then why did you suddenly date Ethan?" She asked.

I stayed silent for a bit, all you could hear were the sounds of our footsteps as i tried to think of a plausible story.

"I liked him." I simply said but my heart was beating rapidly against my chest.

"But you liked girls." Lynn said confused.

"Yeah well I guess it was just a phase." I said before walking up my door step as Lynn's house was further down the street.

"Well bye Lynn get home safe." I said before quickly closing the door and tried to catch my breath.

Does she know I don't like Ethan? I mean she knew I was gay so she obviously questioned me and Ethans relationship but it's been a year since we got together why isn't she over it?
