When they returned back to the Castle, everyone went to rest and Emlyn took the box she found to the library with her. She opened it and saw photos of Camilla as a child, she was always with a woman who was decently tall. Her hair was straight and black and the ends looked like they could slice someone in half.
She was dark and brooding and the more she saw her the more Emlyn shivered. Emlyn got up and took the box and the photos to Horrace. She set it down in front of him, and she saw a sad look come across his face as he recognized the box.
"You've seen this box before?" Emlyn asked, and he nodded.
"Have you looked in it?" He asked with a sign knowing she had.
"Yes who's the black haired woman?" She asked and he sighed.
"It's a very long story but I'm going to give you the short version." He said then poured them some tea.
"Okay I'm listening." Emlyn said, and sipped the tea.
"A long time ago before the fairytale world existed, the world looked very different. There was the Kingdom of Olympus and the Underworld, and many other smaller places. Greek and Roman Gods and Goddesses fought in great wars to claim the land." He explained then took a sip of his tea.
"So they really do exist?" Emlyn asked, believing that they were just stories.
"Yes, they do, ultimately neither side won. In the middle of the raging war was a school named Venus, it was welcoming to both sides but only accepted the most elite students. Students who had gifts of magic and powers. There were four of us Hiromay, Michelle, Lilith, and myself. Lilith is the woman in the photos." He explained and his voice got quieter as he spoke of her.
"Lilith? I've heard that name before..." Emlyn trained off trying to remember all the mythology and biblical things she had ever heard about.
"The mother of all demons, it's true she is. Camilla was the first demon. Lilith is her mother. Now, the difference between Camilla and other demons is that Camilla is stronger because Lilith actually birthed her. While other demons she created with very dark magic." He explained, Emlyn could tell he hated talking about this.
"So you and Lilith huh? What happened?" Emlyn asked and Horrace shook his head.
"Lilith and I went our separate ways but she wasn't happy about it. Michelle and Hiromay won the ultimate wars. The only thing Michelle really lost control of was when the fairytale world got created and the real world expanded into what it is today. She still is attempting to take over it, Hiromay guards the heavens Zeus. Michelle took in Lilith and helped her become the Queen of demons, she helped her raise Camilla into the monster she had become today. All in an attempt to take over the fairytale world and take me out." Horrace said, he was leaving out a lot of details and Emlyn could tell.
Emlyn knew there was far more to the story, he wasn't telling her a lot. Maybe he had a good reason to but something still felt off. Nevertheless, she didn't push him too strongly for more details. "This is a very interesting story, maybe one day you'll feel up to telling me the full one." She said, and he sighed.
"I'm sure you'll learn it all one day maybe not even from me. But please when you do hear it don't think less of me, I was young and very stupid." Horrace said, and then he got up and left. He was no longer in the mood to continue the conversation and Emlyn didn't push him.
She wondered what he meant by that, what could possibly make her think less of Horrace? Was it the mistake he wouldn't tell her? She decided to let it go for now, she had more important things to worry about.
Emlyn went to her room only to see a dark figure standing at her balcony. Emlyn backed up a bit, "who are you?"
The figure looked over her shoulder, the moon illuminating her porcelain white skin. "Lilith." She said, then turned back to stare at the moon.
"Why are you here?" Emlyn asked, terrified.
"To tell you something," she never stopped looking at the moon.
"What do you need to tell me?" Emlyn asked.
"The truth, I need to tell you what Horrace did." She said, a tear rolled down her cheek.
"What did he do?" Emlyn asked, as she slowly moved closer to her.
"He abandoned me when I was pregnant, he knocked me up with Camilla then couldn't handle the pressure. So, he left and became king here and pretended like we didn't exist. Until it became a problem." Lilith said, silent tears fell from her face.
"So you trained your daughter to be evil and take over the world?" Emlyn asked, she didn't exactly approve of what Horrace did either, but two wrongs don't make a right.
"I trained her to be a strong independent woman, it was her choice to take over the world. Though I do support her endeavors." Lilith said, a sly smile was on her face now. Emlyn stood next to her and looked at the moon.
"Why are you so fascinated by the moon?" Emlyn asked, and Lilith smiled again.
"The universe began in the moon and stars, it'll always fascinate me that war for who deserves to rule, has been around since the beginning of time. The deepest wounds come from there." Lilith said, she then looked down into the courtyard. Emlyn saw a flash of blonde duck behind a tree and shook her head.
"I will fix this world, and I will stop her." Emlyn said, and Lilith shook her head.
"You won't, but I hope for your sake you do." Lilith said, then she vanished in a puff of black smoke. Emlyn watched her unite with Camilla down below and sighed.
She really had no idea just how deep the damage went.
