Chapter 3.5: Anis' Date

It is the second day of Ascension's break. Anis, wanting to go out and leave the Outpost, asks the others if they wanted anything from Ark.

Rapi: Nope.

Neon: Can you get me the latest issue of Gun Fire? I wasn't able to get my hands on one yet.

Anis: Why? Can't you just read the digital version?

Neon: There's no romance in the digital version.

Anis: The book is not even made of paper. You mean there's romance in synthetic plastics?

Neon: Of course. Everything with material form had potential for romance.

Anis: [sigh] Yeah, yeah. I'll get it for you. What about you Tawny? Do you or the Commander need anything?

Tawny: No, I'm fine as well.

Y/N: I need some good food.

Anis: Haha. There's no such thing in the Ark. I've been living in the Ark my whole life. I read about the history of those things... Um... Commander, do you come from a rich family?

Y/N: Hm... Nope.

Anis: You were born in the Ark right?

Y/N: Yes.

Anis: Hmm... Alright then. Anything you want to share then?

Y/N: I actually don't remember a lot from my childhood.

Anis: What?

Rapi: Huh?

Neon: Really?

Tawny: Instructor...

Y/N: The only things I do remember, is that I was broke, homeless, and I was extremely hungry.

Anis: ... Sorry for asking something sensitive.

Y/N: Oh don't be like that. You didn't know and I'm not really bothered by my lack of a childhood or my past.

Anis: No, I want to make it up to you, so get ready to go outside Commander!

Y/N: Huh?

Anis: We're taking a trip to the Ark!

Y/N: But I haven't fed Ruru yet.

Tawny: Rapi and I can look after her while you're gone Instructor.

Anis: Problem solved, let's go Commander!

Rapi: Hold on Anis, I would also like to accompany you two on this trip.

Neon: Oh, I want in as well.

Anis: Sorry Rapi, this is a date between me and the Commander!

Y/N: Wait wha-

Anis drags Y/N out of the Command Center before Rapi could say anything. Before Rapi could give chase, she is stopped by Neon grabbing onto her arm.

Rapi: Neon, what are you doing?

Neon: ... Rapi, I have a serious question to ask.

Rapi: ... Tawny, can you go feed Ruru before she gets feisty?

Tawny: Got it.

Tawny leaves to give Ruru her meal for the hour.

Rapi: What is it Neon?

Neon: What is a date?

Rapi: ...

Neon: What I meant to say is, why does Anis call it a date when we use dates to know what day it is?
