"Hey Valerie! This is Noah Kahan's management team! Noah would love to do a song featuring you, if you'd like to, we've written you a verse we think would go beautifully with your vocals! Get back to us at ...............@gmail.com"Valerie was quick to reply. She couldn't believe she was getting her first feature on a song! She of course asked if the boys can contribute with background vocals and if needed instruments. They had done lots of background vocals in her songs. They were all surprisingly really good vocalists.
Noahs team quickly obliged and told her they'd fly her out next week.
Speaking of reply's, Valerie did reply to Javons message. Saying, "hey, thanks so much. hope you liked it." Valerie realized how stupid it sounded, considering he definitely knows all of them are about him. But at least he let her know he listened?
Valeries verse on Noahs new song didn't take long. An hour at most. He called it 'Everywhere, Everything'. It sounded amazing, but the background vocals given by her and her band, had the song sounding impeccable.
They were planning to release the song a week later. Which had Valerie BOOMING! She was so excited about this project. She posted on instagram about her new project.
Valerie was sitting at her desk, Zoom open and in a meeting, with the boys sitting on the side, in support, but not in frame. She was on call with THE Dan Abnett, Andy Leaning, CHRIS PRATT, AND Bradley Cooper!
"Valerie, your audition for Comet was amazing, and we honestly think you'd put on the best performance for the character. So we would like to give the part to you, if you'd like it!" Valerie smiled so hard it looked like it hurt. She of course immediately accepted it. Thanking everyone on call.
Valerie was at her highest. Shes got songs on the Billboard Top 100, shes featured on a new song coming out with an amazing artist, and shes now gonna be in a huge production soon. But she couldn't fathom to the fact that she was missing something. Like she'd been missing a piece of herself for months.
She knew who had it, to complete her. It only ever belonged to Javon. Which , maybe it may have been a mistake, but she had to. She knew he was in town, so she texted him. Asking if he could pick her up, to talk. Yea, to talk...
Javon texted back not even five minutes later. He immediately agreed, giving Valerie good signs.
"Hey..." Valerie said as she got in his car. "Hi." Javon whispered. He didnt know why, but he thought on impulse to be fragile with her.
"Uhm. Theres this hill. Its kinda like the one we saw when you-...." Valerie cut herself off, knowing Javon would know what shed be talking about. "Yeah, ....yeah! Uhm, you can hook up to the car and put in directions?" Valerie nodded her head.
The rest of the drive was quiet, not awkward. Valerie missed this silence. She looked out the window, her knees to her chest, knowing Javon wouldn't mind. He didnt, he glanced at her most of the time. His vision was more on her than the road.
Arriving to where Valerie had directed them, Javon parked his car, and got out. Valerie did the same and walked to the bench sitting at the top, facing the view of LA, a cherry blossom tree next to it, providing shade that wasn't needed at the time, due to it being at least 1 in the morning.
Valerie knew Javon would follow. She had her hood up, pajama pants, and her hair in a braid. Javons hoodie. Smelt like him, reminded her of their wholesome, love filled memories they shared.
"What'd you wanna talk about." Valerie sat criss crossed, pausing at the question. "Im kinda just... looking for closure." They stayed silent, Javon not knowing how to respond, and Valerie not knowing what to say.
"Why'd you ghost me?" She said it. The question thats been killing her, was finally being asked, and is shortly gonna be answered. "I thought you were too good for me. Thought you needed better, and I knew I couldn't give you what you deserved. But I fucked it up, and I'm sorry."
Valerie had tears in her eyes. They weren't sad, but weren't happy. "I blamed myself. I cried and cried and cried, because I lost so much more to me than you think. I lost Jayla, Jaden, your mom, your dad.... Daelo!" Javon looked at her as she stared at him.
"I lost you too, because you thought I wanted better!? I wanted you, I wanted what we had." She was now bawling. Javon knew better than to look away, or to argue back, or cut her off. So he just nodded his head and listened as she talked. "Valerie, I am so fucking sorry. I really am. I should've talked to you, and I'm sorry."
She couldnt say another word, so she just cried. She officially broke down. Javon immediately responded by pulling her closer and holding her. He missed her, and the scent of her coconut shampoo. Her vanilla body mist.
To get her in a comfortable position he adjusted her to sit directly on his lap, as she accepted it and cried in the crook of his neck. His hands hugging her waist.
"What did I do?" Valerie asked him not moving from her position, but still bawling. "Nothing baby. Shh. Im sorry. Im so sorry.." He comforted her the way she needed to be comforted. She was incredibly grateful for him. Aside from what he did.
After she had calmed down, she realized what they were doing. "Jay.. You have a girlfriend, I cant be on your lap." "Ex. We broke up."
Valerie moved her head to look at him. "Why?" He knew his answer immediately, and as cheesy as it sounds.... "She wasn't you." He shrugged and looked in her eyes. " Ugh, thats corny." She chuckled.
"I can leave you here y'know. I drove." "Yea, but you wouldn't." "I wouldn't." Valerie realized how close they were, but urging to be closer, she leaned in. He retaliated, till their noses are touching each other.
Valerie didnt move, wanting to see how long this moment would last. It didnt last very long, seeing as Javon became very impatient and ended up pulling Valerie in by her neck. She smiled into the kiss. She loved the feeling of his lips on hers. His touch. She loved him entirely.
The two made out for almost ten minutes, never really wanting to pull apart from each other. But they knew they had to. "Not bad.." Valerie smiled. "What? Me kissing you?" Javon asked as he smirked at her. "Mhm.. you're okay."
"Oh i'm just okay?" He tilted his head to the side, that smirk never leaving his face. "Yea..." Valerie smiled at him, her nails scratching the back of his head gently. Javon leaned in for another kiss. With Valerie on his lap, he made sure to be gentle.
He pulled her in by her jawline, Valerie immediately cooperating. After pulling away, Valerie looked at Javon like he was the only thing that mattered in the world. In her world, at least.
"Whatcha thinkin about?" Javon looked at her smiling, realizing how happy he is now that they've broken no contact. Valerie shook her head looking at him, a wide smile wasnt on her face, but she still looked so happy.
"I love you." In Valeries head, she panicked, she obviously didn't show it, but she waited for a response. When he just kept staring at her, her face started dropping. He knew that he needed to say something before she got the wrong idea.
"I love you too. " Valeries expression immediately brightened when hearing those words come out of his mouth. He kissed her cheek and began to shower her with kisses. Valerie laughed, before he put his lips on hers.
He layed her on the bench, kissing her again and again, before stopping to ask her something. "Can I be your boyfriend?" Javon stroked her cheek, waiting for an answer. "Can I be your girlfriend?" Javon said nothing and just kissed her again, never being happier.
