Valerie hasn't opened the DM she recently just received from Javon. She couldn't bring herself to do it.

Its been three weeks since her album came out and "watch" has already hit #21 on the billboard top 100! Valerie and her band flew back to LA after finishing up their album. They were now celebrating by driving around, listening to the album they made and put out just a few weeks ago.

"I thought you were my new best friend. Wish I knew better then!" Valeries voice was heard over the radio. With Vinny driving, Valerie in the passenger seat and the boys in the back.

She appeared to be living the best life she could. But inside she was dying. She didn't know what to do with herself. She didn't know whether to go home, crawl into a ball and cry herself to sleep, or to keep it in, to herself, and never let anyone in.

When Valerie returned home, she wasn't really living in HER home. She was living with Eli and his brother. He let her and Vinny stay there till they could get back on their feet, since the siblings didn't wanna go back to their parents place.

Her 'room' was used as the studio, so luckily the walls were soundproof. Valerie was staring at the ceiling, lying on her back, while Adrianne Lenker played. She was bawling, her face blank, yet tears streamed down her face. 

Valerie felt vulnerable, she was insecure and felt unwanted. How could a boy do that? He didn't hold any power over her at all. But it sure did feel like it. She was tired. Drained. What was it about Javon that made Valerie feel so shitty?

She knew better, but she was at her worst, and the only person who was wise and kind enough to talk to her was in town with her family for her son's boxing match. So she called Jessica up and asked her to come over. Which of course she obliged.

Knock Knock! "Val? Its Jess." She had to speak a bit louder than usual, due to the music blasting. "Its open." Valerie hadn't moved a muscle. She stood dead on the ground, staring at the ceiling. "Oh sweetie, this is not healthy." Jess had opened the door to see Valerie looking like a dead fish on land.

She shrugged as tears started forming again. "Aw, come here." Jessica pulled Valerie in for a hug. Without hesitation she returned the favor. "What the fuck did I do!?" She sobbed in Jessicas shoulder. "Nothing, you did nothing." Jess pulled away to look at Valerie and wipe her tears away. "I think you're both still so young to know what you want. Especially Javon." Jessica chuckled a bit at that last part.

"No offense, but your son is really dumb and confusing." Valerie said with a laugh while she wiped her tears with the sleeve of her crewneck. "Yea, sometimes. Just don't tell him I said that." Jessica smiled at Valeries laugh. She loved her smile. She thought of her as a daughter, so of course it felt good to see her happier. 

"Im working on new music..?" Valerie tried to brighten up the mood. "Oh yeah?" She nodded. "Can I hear?" Without saying another word, Valerie got up and sat in the spinny big chair they had in the room for recording music.

Five months earlier...

Valerie was at her highest, she wasn't necessarily dating Javon, but it felt like it. And that was enough. "What're you lookin at?" Javon looked down at the girl laying on his bare chest, sprawled out over him and his bed. "I cant admire you?" She smiled at him.

"No, I like someone else." He joked around. "Oh do you?" "Mhm." "Ohh whats she like?" Javon flipped them over slowly and intimately, and kissed Valerie. "Shes really pretty." he smiled against her lips. "And smart." He moved down towards her cheek. "And really good at singing, especially kissing.." His words were a bit mumbled due to his lips never leaving Valeries skin.

"And her eyes, they're beautiful. Green." He kissed down her neck. When he reached her throat, he gave her one hickey and pulled away. He looked into Valeries eyes and they looked full of love. "You gotta lil sum right here." Javon smiled, pointing to his throat, telling Valerie he gave her a hickey.

"Javon! Your parents are downstairs!" She got up to look in the mirror. "Dude. Im gonna kill you." She ran towards his bed, as he got up and left the room. They chased each other around the second floor of the house. The two hadn't felt any happier.

Present day...

"Wow. Thats amazing V." Valerie smiled at both the compliment from Jess, and the nickname. "Thank you." Knock! "Hey, Val, you ready? We need to finish opposite." Vinny had knocked, letting Valerie know they have to record her vocals for a new song. "Okay, thank you!" Vinny smiled and left, while Valerie turned to Jessica. "Is uh- hows Daelo?"  She hesitated to ask. She was gonna say Javon. But she wanted to know how Daelos doing too.

"He's doing great, he just misses you. He doesn't really like Sofia." Valerie gave a tight lipped smile. "Yea, I miss him too. Kid loved Fortnite!" The two laughed before Jessica let her know she should be leaving. Soon after, Valerie started recording a new song with the boys.

"She looks nothing like me, so why do you look so happy?" She recorded with Vinny and Kaleo. Eli and Ale were asleep on the couch in the studio, both laying their heads on each other. "Kay, you wanna call it a day?" "Yea." Valerie took her headphones off and turned the speakers, microphone, and computers off as well.

She reached for her phone, opening instagram. That message still unread. Ultimately, she decided to open it. "hey val. congrats on the album, listened to like the first two song and that last one, really proud of you🩵"
