The grand evening has arrived, the day of Shaurya’s wedding. The Malhotra mansion is alive with excitement as the baraat prepares to leave for the Mehta house. There’s music, laughter, and a palpable sense of celebration in the air. Family members are gathered, everyone in high spirits, except for Shaurya. He’s standing in front of the mirror in his room, adjusting his sherwani, a royal piece that makes him look every bit the groom. But his heart doesn’t match the occasion.
Shaurya’s POV:
(“This is supposed to be the happiest day of my life, right? So why does it feel like there’s a knot in my chest? Kritika is a wonderful woman, and today is her day, but I can’t seem to stop thinking about... her. Anika. Why does she keep crossing my mind? I should be focusing on Kritika, on the wedding, on what’s about to happen. But instead, it feels like I’m standing at a crossroads, unsure of which way to go.”)As Shaurya steps away from the mirror, ready to leave, his mother, Neelam, enters the room. She eyes him fondly and wipes away a small tear that has formed in the corner of her eye.
Neelam: “Shaurya, you look absolutely perfect. Aaj toh tumhare saath saath sabhi ki nazar tum par hai. Tumhare dad aur dadi bhi tumhe dekh ke khush honge. Tumne toh pura ghar roshan kar diya hai.”
Shaurya forces a smile, his mind still elsewhere.
Shaurya: “Thanks, Mom. It’s just... everything feels overwhelming right now.”
Neelam, not sensing the unease beneath his calm expression, gives him a reassuring hug.
Neelam: “I know, beta. Aaj tum dono ki zindagi ka sabse khoobsurat din hai. Kritika ko bhi tumhare saath zindagi ke safar par chalne ka intezaar hai. Tum dono ek doosre ke saath apni duniya banaoge.”
Shaurya nods, but his eyes betray his inner turmoil.
Shaurya (softly): “I just hope she’s happy.”
His father, Rishi, enters the room just as Shaurya turns to leave.
Rishi (smiling): “Shaurya, Today is the day. You’re starting a new chapter. Don’t look back.”
And they leave for Mehta mansionThe Malhotra family arrives at the Mehta mansion for the wedding. The house is beautifully decorated, with purple flowers and sparkling lights illuminating the entire place. Anika stands near the entrance, dressed in a soft white-golden floral lehenga. But beneath the elegance of her appearance, her heart feels heavy.
Anika had always known her sister Kritika was meant to marry Shaurya. They were perfect for each other, from the outside. But there was something in her heart—something she couldn’t ignore. Every time she saw Shaurya, her heart raced. It wasn’t something she had planned, but sometimes feelings have a way of finding their way out, even when you try to bury them.(“I shouldn’t feel like this. This day isn’t about me. It’s di's. It should be about her happiness, about the life she’s starting with Shaurya. And yet… why do I feel so torn? This isn’t right. I need to keep my emotions in check, for her sake.”) Anika thought
The sound of the dhols and music grows louder as the baraat arrives. The Malhotras step out, led by Shaurya, looking every bit the groom. As Shaurya gets closer to Anika, their eyes meet for a split second, and Anika feels a sudden rush of emotions—guilt, longing, and confusion.
She quickly looks away, forcing a smile as she prepares for her role in the welcoming ceremony. Anika picks up the traditional thali with the tikka plate and approaches Shaurya. Her hands are trembling slightly as she stands before him.
Shaurya, noticing her subtle unease, raises an eyebrow but says nothing.
Anika (softly, almost to herself): “Welcome, Shaurya ji. Aapka swaagat hai Mehta parivaar mein.”
She places the tikka on his forehead with a grace she’s practiced for years, but there’s a deep sadness in her heart that she can’t hide. Her fingers brush against his skin, and for a moment, the world around them seems to pause. Shaurya feels a strange pull towards her, something he can’t explain. But he’s quick to dismiss it, as his eyes flicker to her family, who’s watching from behind with a smile plastered on face.
Anika looks up at him, her eyes flickering with an emotion she quickly buries.
Anika (quietly, almost as a whisper): “Congratulations... I hope you both have a lifetime of happiness.”
(“She looks so beautiful, but she seems so distant, so different today. Her eyes... they’re not the same. What’s going on in her mind? Why do I feel like I’ve missed something, something important? Today’s not the time for this. I can’t think about it.”) shaurya thought.
As Anika steps aside, she watches as the rest of the family welcomes the baraat. But her heart isn’t in it. Shaurya, despite his external calm, feels the same way. His thoughts continue to drift back to her, despite his attempts to focus on Kritika.
