Kim Taehyung was never considered as a possible choice when BTS was being formed. Taehyung was reserved borderline antisocial. He may have decent looks, but his passive personality would be a weakness or so Hitman Bang thought.
In actuality Taehyung was too nervous to speak and much like Jungkook he struggled in the beginning to speak amongst people. This caused the media misunderstand him and slapping him the "Ice Emperor" label for his perceived cold expression when he is not smiling. This coupled with the lack of proper sleep has made fans initially hesitant upon supporting him.
In the beginning he served as the filler member, the person who needed to fill up the lines others have already taken. His lower register made him perfect for ad-libs. But this wasn't enough and Taehyung started to voice his desire to be more included.
Starting in 2016 with Fire and Save Me, Taehyung has received more vocal lines on par with the "J line" of BTS. It was then he started opening up to the fans. He stated his likes, his aspirations, his own feelings. He picked up jazz and classic soul as a genre he liked. He bonded with Seokjin over Korean ballads, he also bonded with Junny over Soul music. Compared to his antisocial self from five years, Taehyung was a different person.
So this song Singularity was personalized for him and only him. It contrasted to the upbeat song Jungkook was singing. V was more suited for darker more angsty ballads. He wanted to be taken seriously as an artist so he took charge of the dance choreography using various influences from art especially minimalist art.
Junny was watching V smiled work support. He dreamed for a long time of Taehyung come out of his shell.
