The Bangtan Boys released a modern cover of the legendary song from the group that started Kpop: Seo Taiji and Boys. Three boys who went against norms by dressing in fashionable Hip Hop Street wear which was uncommon at the time.
They redefined what music was by incorporating Hip Hop into the Korean language. During their short run in just four years, they dominated the airwaves by addressing the many problems with youth including bullying, depression, and the need to express themselves. It was a time period following decades of authoritarian rule.
The generation that grew with Seo Taiji were the generation that helped established the the Kpop industry. Bangtan Boys admired for the Seo Taiji did for starting the whole Kpop movement. It started with them and after the disbandment went to H.O.T who also addressed many issues within society.
From Shinhwa to TVXQ to BigBang and now BTS. Each band laid a considerable influence among the entertainment industry and set new trends from Korea to beyond. Now it has boomed across the entire globe as the age of social media has caused Kpop music to become more a norm and less of a niche it once was.
