"Old friends are a reflection of your roots; growing apart doesn't change the fact that for a long time we grew side by side; our roots will always be tangled." - Rocklynn Valente

"Liam!?"

Green familiar eyes meet mine.

"Ari." He steps closer to me, everyone around me instantly steps back. I stay rooted to my spot. "I haven't seen you in years."

When we were younger, our family used to make us play with eachother while they had their royal meetings. We had grown close, best friends even. Ever since his mother passed. I have not seen him since. Actually, I haven't seen any KettleVilles since the last meeting.

"What are you doing here?" A KettleVille being here is bad, let alone a KelVick. Even as a congratulations, and surely not a condolence. The Kelvicks hated my mother since she had a higher rule than them.

"Came to celebrate your becoming, as is everyone else." He gestured to the crowd, and I suddenly remembered that everyone is watching us.

I look to everyone, who is staring at him, and me with wide eyes. "Please everyone go back to singing, and dancing!" I turn to the maids. "let's get more champagne out here!" They nod. Everyone nervously follows my instructions. They're terrified of him, but just as equally scared of me.

Why would they fear us you ask? Well obviously Floravera has highest rule, then well Kelvick behind me. He had 2nd. HAD. Well his father did. He lost that when he disagreed to be apart of the royals, and brought his village to a war village.

"Nice ruling, you're gonna be a great Queen, Ari." He half smirks, half grins at me. I have to hold back from rolling my eyes.

"Why are you really here?" I ask him. Keeping my voice quiet. My eyes scan his for his true feelings, however. I see nothing in those cold green orbs, and as if reading my mind; he leans forwards, and I can no longer see his face, just his ear, and hair now. I can feel his hot breath on my ear. Then he speaks, which causes a shiver to run down my spine.

"My Ari, you know why I'm here. I wanted to see my old friend, and congratulate her on her new milestone."

"Maybe, but there's more that you're not telling me." I say right back into his ear. "Because, the only reason a Kelvick would be at my coronation is to be a symbol for war. Regardless of how many mermaid games we played as a kid."

He chuckles. His laugh hasn't changed a bit in the past 10 years. He leans back, my hairline, now level with the scar on his chin. "Like I said, I came to celebrate my old friend's becoming." He sighs "Me and my father also send our condolences to you, and your kingdom. We know what it's like to loose a Queen." He says. His mother was the Queen of KettleVille. How she died was horrific, at least my mom saw hers coming.

"Thank you." I say, not wanting to talk about mothers or death any further. I stepped aside so he can continue into the party. He gave me a grin as he walked through the crowd. He didn't have to push through. People feared him enough to move.

They have good instincts at least. I don't fear him though. The man he's become? Possibly, but I will never fear a man, or anyone for that matter.

As kids he was the sweetest young boy. His dad was happy, mom was happy. He resembled his mother in many ways, he still does if you look closely. His dad has stripped away the good parts of him to make him a killer. Yes, a killer.

10 years ago, he was merely 16, I follow behind at 14. His dad was out of the village doing business with a nearby town. Cavron Village took that as an advantage, and snuck into KettleVille and slaughtered 1/3 of their people. Including Caliath Kelvick.

After that, Vincent Kelvick declared the death penalty on anything, and everything involving Cavron. He didn't want a repeat of what happened to his wife to happen to his son, or anyone else. So he changed his ways, and people, then made his Village a war Kingdom.

The royals all agreed out of fear to never let anything Cavron into the royal family ever again. They also agreed upon KettleVille to be a war kingdom. However, Vincent didn't want to live under the rule of the royal family.

So he isolated him, and his kingdom away. Including his son. He continued training everyone there, harder, better, just continuous training to be the best killers he can make. In the past 10 years, even with the death training, his population has grown back twice of what it's lost. It's scary impressive.

Also why i'm questioning why Liam Kelvick is in my ball room.

That's just great, I might go into war on my coronation day. Not my plan, but at least someone will put me out of my misery.
