Floravera is a magical kingdom, filled with people, magic, & dragons. There are multiple kingdoms like this around the globe. However, Floravera is known to be the Prett...
"Never underestimate anyone. Anyone can turn on you in an instant." - Rocklynn Valente
I gasp, and take a step back. The man takes a step forward at me then, another, and I point the staff at him to stop him, but the staff goes right through him... he isn't really here. He's the murderer from tonight.
I walk up to him, he's just standing there for a bit. Like he's thinking. I can't see who he is, he has fighting gear on, with a mask under his hood.

He twists the sword in his hand before grabbing the 2nd one on his back. He walks a bit closer then yells something that I can't hear, then green lightning surges through his body.
It gives power, to him and the swords. He then lowers his head to look at the tree. He then charges at it, he jumps up the stairs, climbing his way to the top fast.
A dragon swoops in, attempting to grab him, he ducks from its feet, then swings back, as it flies over head, slicing into its stomach. The dragon screams in pain and falls hard to the ground not far from the tree. The ground rumbles from the fall.
3 guards run out of the tower, their swords ready. They charge at him. He twists on his left foot, and causes one guard to tumble down the stairs, and the other to fall on his own sword.
The last guard throws his sword up, nicking him in the shoulder, he managed to find a weak spot in his armor. The man doesn't even flinch, he takes his sword up with his right hand, and slices through the guards stomach. He falls, joining the others at the bottom.
Another dragon flies in. The man grabs the sword from his arm, then throws it up. The dragon flaps its wings back to avoid it, but it hits the dragons eyeball. The dragon panics, and looses its sight, mobility, and just falls from the sky. It crashes down further into the forest then the other dragon.
The man takes another step up the trees steps, that's when 7 more guards run out. That's all that's left of the guards that protect the tree. They fight, swords high. He runs at 2 of them, and twists himself. Swords flying through the 2 guards throats. They fall down the stairs, the bloody stairs from all the other dragons and guards that were killed before them.
One guard manages to stab him in the side, within 2 seconds the man had his own sword shoved through the guard's throat. He pulled it out, and his body joined the others.
He pulls out the sword that went into his side, when he does another guard acts. He tackles him, they fly back, and both start involuntary barrel rolling to the bottom. The sword dislodged itself as they rolled, and in lodged itself into the guard that tackled him.
Before he could even stand up, the other 3 guards ran at him, one managed to slice at his armor. Not getting a good hit. The man swung his feet, and caught the guards legs, he pulled him on top of him, then snapped his neck. That must of been the severely injured soldier who had their neck dislocated.
The man pushed the guard off of him, as the 2nd guard runs up. His sword pointed downwards ready to take him on the ground. He rolls away, causing the sword to fly into the ground. The guard struggles to pick it back up. Then the 3rd guard runs up, swinging the sword. The man put his 2 hands on the ground behind him, then threw his body up to its feet.
He twists away from the swinging sword, then ducked as it came back. He grabbed a dagger from his boot then pushed it into the guard's carotid. The guard fell.
The other guard... last guard. Finally grabbed the sword from the ground. He held it up to the man. The guards mask had fallen off, he was around my age, possibly younger. He faced this man who had obviously used corrupted magic, and did a strength spell. One I know too well.
The man pushed his hand out to the sword, lowering it from the shaky boys hands. The boy cried, he looked down, accepting defeat. The man took another step, before bringing his arm up, and elbowing the man in the face. Causing him to fly to the ground, and knock out.
The man then went back up the stairs, and through the trees doors. I followed him, to see what he wanted. He traveled through the tree, like he had been here before. He showed no signs of pain anywhere. He just briskly walked up the stairs and halls until he reached the 3rd floor of the tree.
My eyes widen. As he walks into the room, and goes to the glass casing. My breathing stalls as he rips the casing off and throws it to the floor. It shatters all around him.
He then grabs the spell book. The spell book that Maliani Valente wrote. When she first discovered the staff, she didn't properly know everything about it or how to use it. So she made spells to help those that would come after her, future Queens/Kings of the Valente bloodline. Not for whoever the hell this is.
He opens the book, ensuring that is indeed the thing he came for. He then leaves the room, I follow after him, and down the stairs as fast as I can. We run outside then he, as well as the rest of the illusion disappears. All that's left is the dead bodies that have yet to be picked up.
I have to warn everyone. No one is safe. I look out of the forest. The tree is a good distance from the road so I doubt the guards and Liam saw what happened.
I run back to the carriage as fast as I can. I don't know where this man is, the illusion disappeared. For all I know, he could be waiting in the forest for me, or anyone. He could have made it to the carriage and killed everyone including Liam and Charles while I investigated.
I run faster as I reach the end of the hill, finally meeting the road. The staff is hidden on my finger again. I sigh a breath of relief as I see everything is intact just the way I left it.
Charles jogs up to me. "What is it! Why are you running?" Liam just walks over.
"The man that killed everyone. He stole the spell book." Charles eyes widen in horror.
Liam looks confused. No one outside of Floravera knows about the spell book. It's sacred to Valente bloodline. "What the hell is a spell book?"
Charles eyes him cautiously. "It's a book that holds all the spells that help Valente's channel their magic." I tell him. Charles gives me 'why would you tell him that' look.
I calm my breathing down as Liam looks like he's processing what I just said. "Listen I don't have time to explain things. I need a meeting with the royals immediately, and the towns chief. This is war."
