Author's note: Part 19/??
The group walked down the long hallway, passing countless doors that Ryan couldn't keep track of. He heard multiple animal sounds and could only imagine how hurt the poor creatures could be.
"We are here. The animals in this room, are almost ready to return to their owners or the animal shelters." The tall veterinarian pointed at the white door.
"Please remain calm, and quiet. Don't touch our little patients without permission." Porsche reminded them. Ryan caught Jane's warning stare and almost rolled his eyes. Did his fiance think he would break such an important rule?
"We understand," Baimon reassured the owner. The door opened and they were led inside. Ryan's eyes scanned the room and he couldn't stop himself from a soft squeal. Jane, who had been walking quietly in front of him, slowed down to walk beside him. Their hands brushed slightly, and Ryan immediately realized he should keep his excitement in check. He appreciated how his fiancée always reminded him to stay calm.
They walked around the cages and small coops, watching the animals from a safe distance. The veterinarian was talking, but Ryan didn't listen to him. His eyes landed on the two cutest puppies playing not far from him. They were so tiny and fluffy. Ryan tried to control the urge to touch them but it was so difficult.
"You can play with them if Porsche gives us permission," Jane whispered. Ryan nodded excitedly. He felt a light touch on his hand before Jane turned his attention back to the tall veterinarian. The door suddenly opened, revealing another veterinarian. The man looked similar to Jane, but somehow grumpier.
"Ah, here he is." Porsche smiled.
"Everyone this is Pick. The other owner and my best friend." He added. Pick rolled his eyes and groaned at his friend before he turned to greet them.
"Hello, I am Pick." The introduction was short and a bit cold to Ryan's liking.
"Don't mind him. He used to be worse. Luckily he met his pretty husband and he's all better now." Porsche joked. The group laughed politely.
"You know, love is a sovereign remedy to loneliness and in Pick's case even a grumpiness." Porsche laughed as he patted his best friend's shoulder. Pick groaned again. Ryan observed Pick's behaviour, thinking about who could possibly marry this grumpy male who was nothing like his Jane.
