"Dancing is a good way to show, and control your emotions." - Vincent Kelvick.
The crowd parted for us as we made our way to the center. The music continued to play, as the crowd made a circle around us, watching, and murmuring amongst themself.
"We've got an audience." Liam says into my ear as I look out to all of them. "Let's give them a show?"
"I don't remember the steps." My eyes now stare into his again. I yelp as he grabs my waist, and puts my feet on top of his. "What are you doing?"
"Reminding you." My hands shoot up around his neck to stable myself. He waves to the pianist to restart the song. (Prokofiev - Cinderella suite waltz)
He takes my hand from his neck and clasps it with his and our arms go outwards. He then steps with his foot. "You know you could have warned me, I would have taken off my heels."
He chuckles. "You'll need them for when you do this on your own." I tilt my head. as if, I can barely keep myself upright as I stand on his shoes.
"I haven't done this since the recital." He takes another step, then spins us.
"I used to practice it when I missed you." Missed me? I lose my balance, my heel slipping, and fall back.
He catches me, dips me, then spins me out. Now I dance on my own. "Don't think about it, just let your body flow."
I listen to what he says, and just let it happen. Soon before I know it I'm dancing to the beat, just like he is. The crowd is cheering us on as move our bodies in sync.
The music slowly comes to an end, and as it does, he spins me in, dips me, then keeps me there as the song ends, my leg shoots up on the air. As I laugh, it was the most fun I've had in months.
He pulls me up, my back goes to his chest, his arms are wrapped around me as the crowd cheers us on. "Told you, you would shed happy tears." He says in my ear, as he very sneakily wipes away a tear under my eye. One that I didn't know I had.
I turn my head to face him, his eyes stare back at mine. "Thank you"
He smiles at me, he looks happy, genuinely happy. "No need to thank me. We both needed a reminder." He's right about that.
"Everyone outside!" A guard yells from corridor. Everyone looks to him, no longer cheering, they look intrigued, and scared of why they need to go outside.
I pull out of Liam's arms to walk outside, he pulls me back. "It could be a trap."
"Really? You think they're gonna murder us in front of our own people?" I roll my eyes at him.
"Your people, and yes they would." His hands stay rooted to my hips. Us, and a few drunk men around us are the only ones left in the ballroom. Everyone else is outside, where I should be.
"Our. We're both royals. They aren't gonna kill anyone. Even if they try, just kill them first. Simple." I state
"Right. Arabella's gonna kill someone, how realistic." He sarcastically jokes, and I roll my eyes again then turn away from him to leave again. He turns me back around.
"At least have your staff ready." I shove my hand in his face, showing my ring finger with the staff on it. "That's smart." He sighs. "Alright fine let's go see what's outside."
I roll my eyes again as he finally lets go of me. I walk away from him, but he stays waking beside me. I made it through the back doors to the crowd of people once again. Then a guard stands in front of us all. "Behold your eyes to the sky. Tonight we celebrate the queen even in nightfall!" He points his hand to the sky.
Then a light floats to the stars. Then BOOM. A firework goes off, then 20 more. And more, and more. It goes on for 40 minutes. Finally once it's over with the guard speaks again. "And that ladies and gentlemen concludes our nightly celebration in Floravera. Please head to your rooms, they are nice and warm for you."
Didn't have to tell me twice. I was gone before he even finished his sentence. I speed walk, even jog up to my room, happy to get out of these heels. I make it to the top of my stairs. Slightly out of breath.
"Ari!" Liam yells behind me. I heavily sigh as I turn around to face him.
"What?" I question
"So... turns out there wasn't a trap outside. I apologize." He takes the last step. He's not sweating, dying of exhaustion. He's like a robot.
"You climbed 8 stories just to apologize over your suspicions?" My eyebrows crease together at the unbelievableness in front of me.
"Yes. Do I need to climb back down and do it again for you?" He tilts his head at me, he's being sarcastic.
"Don't get an attitude with me." I had to stop myself from saying yes, I would make him do it shirtless if I could. I mentally slap myself. That whole dancing act that we just did, brought up my old memories of us. Which caused old feelings to arise again, and now I suddenly feel very, very attracted to the man standing in front of me. Which is bad, very bad.
"Im sorry" he raised his hands in surrender.
"You're forgiven." I open my door, and basically sprint in, collapsing onto my bed. I can't stand it any longer, I gotta get these heels off.
I pull my dress up, which is very poofy and long so it's hard to do, but I manage, and I get off the first heel. Instant relief feels my legs, and foot. "Awww"
Liam stands at my doorway, a look of concern on his face, and amusement. "Do they secretly have knives in them?"
I roll my eyes "No, however it does feel that way." I grab at my other heels strap but struggle to get it off.
"Here, let me." He says, I try and stop him, but he's already kneeling, and taking my heel off. He gets it off in one move, faster than I ever could.
"How. I can barely even get them on!" I look at him with pure bewilderment.
"It's a just a latch, you pull up, then thread the belt through." He chuckles. That freakin chuckle that makes this weird glowy feeling arise in my chest, a warmth if you will, and for some reason, it won't go away.
"Okay smartass." I chuckle back. His eyes are on mine at the chuckle, then leave to look at my lips, then back at my eyes.
My heart flutters at the act. Without thinking, my body moves on its own, and before I can register my actions, my lips are pressed onto his.
